We have completed the first part in our planned Heraldry website. What started off as a few Coat of Arms and Clan Badges has now been organized into the Heraldry Database.

The heraldry database is provided through our CelticRadio computer server, but is actually under the design of our medieval website: Arms & Badges. The reason is simple, Arms & Badges is about Coat of Arms and Clan Badges!

We currently have 250 names, but it will take a very long time to get all of the information into the database. As we go along, we are certain to increase the features - such as maps, countries and historical information.

Just a note on the graphics, these are part just previews of the full 8.5 x 11 inch graphics we have available for templates for clothing items, which are available for purchasing at the Arms & Badges store:

That was enlightening! Both my maiden name and my Mom-In-Law's maiden name(hubby's maternal family line) turn out to be of the MacFarlane Clan!! I have no idea if there are actually any relatives descended from the Clan, but it's intriguing nonetheless.

Paul, I couldn't find our Surname in the database. Does this only include Scottish names, or are all the Celtic Nations represented? Not sure where we might fall, whether it's truly a British surname, or possibly Welsh, ?? Can you recommend a good source for me to do some research on it? Thanks!

The Heraldry database, while fully functioning, only contains 250 names so far. It will be one of those ongoing projects that we will be adding information to all the time. Perhaps next time this year it will contain 3,000 names and you will find the name you are looking for.

If you sign-up for a founder's account we will do some research and add your name, coat of arms, etc. to the database.

We use Google to search for information in the public domain. The graphics are copyrighted and only for use on celticradio.net.
