Hmmm.... one side of me says no big deal, who cares, while the other side of me says oh %#%&!
50, that seems like a long time however it seems just like a couple of years ago I was 30. I hope that doesn't mean in a couple of years I will be 70!
I mean I really feel good mentally and physically, oh I do have a couple more aches and pains here and there occassionaly than the old days. I'm more patient and I think more wise. I try not to sweat the small stuff. Just let life flow.
I do have my glasses ready though now at all times. If I went into a restaurant and forgot my glasses, I would have to have to rely on my 8 year old daughter read the menu to me. She always got a kick out of this. I blamed it on the low lighting for the last couple of years. I also don't seem to care what other people think of me nowadays as much as I used to. However, I do find that my memory has some flaws in it. But I think it's for the most part still in tact! However, I do find that my memory has some flaws in it. But I think it's for the most part still in tact!
Then I tell myself is it time to throw caution to the wind in life now?? Whatever that means. Then the other side of me says just keep enjoying things the way I always have.
Any advice, thoughts on this event would be appreciated. It's my first time.
And I'm right behind you. Just turned 48 a few weeks ago. I get you on the glasses thing. I just say that my arms have gotten too short. My 11-year-old has become my eyes quite often. Of course, after that she thinks it's fun to lead "the old lady" around.
My new motto: I'm too damn old to feel this damn young (forgive the language...stole it from Garth Brooks and turned it around ) People are always a bit shocked when they find out how "old" I am--but I don't think it's my looks that shocks them, but my immaturity The older I get, the younger I feel. Funny thing, that.
My advice: Enjoy it! Aging is mandatory, but growing up is optional!
Cheers! Embrace this milestone!

I'm not quite there yet....... but live your life to the fullest and listen to your body. (Don't overexert yourself when at play as it will set you back a bit to enjoy the fantastic things in life). Be yourself & take care
Not the best advice but that's what I have for now

Happy Birthday kid, I'll be 66 next month. Most of the time I feel much younger but every once in a while my right hip reminds me that I'm not! Don't waste time worrying about getting old, keep smiling,(btw thanks for all the fun posts) and do the things you have been dreaming of before you really are old. For instance, I think I have waited too long to become a surfer and there are mountains I should have climbed years ago. Life is good at every stage and what you lose physically you make up for in wisdom. At least that is what I tell myself!

50 . . . been there, done that, got the t-shirt! You know, it wasn't all that bad. I'm 55 now and feel better physically than I have in a long time. Of course, I've lost about 24 pounds in the past few weeks, so maybe that helps!!
I still have fun as a semi-senior citizen, just in different ways than when I was younger. There is enough going on in my life that is fascinating and fresh every day. I am still married to my wonderful wife of nearly 35 years. I have seven wonderful children, six PERFECT grandchildren (and another one coming this April!!). I've got a church that thinks I can preach (I don't let them hear many other preachers ), and life is just good in general.
there are some things I'd like to do in the next few years before I get too old to experience them. I am at a point now where I have liberty to do some things that time and commitments would not let me do only a few years ago.
The Lord is good and life is what we can make of it sometimes. I cannot control the circumstances of life all that often, but I can control my response to it all.
Anyway, happy birthday, Togo! Hope the next one is even better! Lord bless!
