I know that I was just merely posting a couple of articles
There are gentetic difference's between the Welsh and English so does that mean the Welsh/Celts are not linked to Anglo-Saxons ?

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri; Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd, Tros ryddid gollasant eu gwaed.
Gwlad, Gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad. Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau, O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.
Hen Gymru fynyddig, paradwys y bardd, Pob dyffryn, pob clogwyn i'm golwg sydd hardd; Trwy deimlad gwladgarol, mor swynol yw si Ei nentydd, afonydd i mi.
Os treisiodd y gelyn fy ngwald tan ei droed, Mae hen iaith y Cymry mor fyw ac erioed, Ni luddiwyd yr awen gan erchyll law brad, Na thelyn berseiniol fy ngwlad.
The Celts were predominantly found in Northern Europe (even down to Northern Spain, Galicia is one of the "classical" celtic regions). The Angles and Saxons came from what is now Northern Germany and they already had intermixed with scandinavian/viking blood of Denmark, so Anglo-saxon genetics are not too far different from Danish/viking blood.
Today Ireland and Wales are the two regions with most influence of Celtic Blood to be found in the British Isles (I watched a programme about that last night), but that might just be due to the fact that there has been alot of intermixing with other cultures (viking, norman, anglo-saxon and whatnot).
That the Welsh and the Irish are predominantly celtic genetically is due to their history mostly. The invading people formed the Elite/socially high/ruling class and stayed mostly under themselves instead of mixing with the local people.
The way I have understood it.... ..it is theorized that all of the peoples and cultures in Europe extended from one ancient culture known as the Indo-Europeans. They existed in the southern Europe/Middle eastern part of the world and make the Greeks look like the new kids on the block. They are thought to exist because of archealogical findings and recent findings within language. It seems that very basic words such as Mother, Brother, Eat, Numbers....are extremely similar between different racial groups.
Anyway, the theory is that as these people left and traveled through Europe, they mixed with other inhabitants along the way and formed the various races and tribes that now exist in Europe. How does this play in?...well...they all didn't leave the middle east at once. The Indo-Europeans did so in waves which explains how Europe is set up. If this theory were true....it would mean that the oldest people would be along the furthest edges of europe and that the successivly younger and younger cultures would be further and further towards the middle east.
Based on how things are today...that is rather true. The celts (although young in terms of the picts and druids) are among the oldest of cultures in Europe and are settled one islands as far west as one can get. Next come people like the Moors, Normans and Saxons, who settled on the edge of the mainland (ie spain, france, germany) and finally, the youngest the slavs (poland, czech and slovakia).
So....essentially the celts did move all through Europe. However, just as newer and newer tribes moved out of Indo-Europa....they pushed the same direction as the celts and took that land. Again, we can see loose bits of archealogical history that explain this. For instance....every country in Europe had a bagpipe at one point. The Celts are attributed with taking the double reed (the use of it, not the actual plant) from the middle east and spreading it to the people they had contact/traded with.
This is a very abbreviated history...and goes to the extent of my knowledge. Let me know if I have everything correct!
Cheers
