I think I need a unique name for when I sign my art work. What can you suggest?

I think when pondering the use of a pen name, consideration for the audience you hope to reach is likely the most important...prose and poetry should always be by your true name, your child hood name, not the name your parents used for you but what you thought of as yourself. short stories and longer endeavors perhaps need other names..a maiden name, last name first and first name last, your last favorite pets name..whatever speaks to you and can grab the attention of the wondering eye of the reader..

Most of my pens don't stick around long enough for us to get aquainted on a first name basis. I just call all of them Miss Ing.

Just when I thought I was satisfied with a name, now I decide I'm not. I've spent the morning looking up Welsh, Gaelic and German words.

Here's the the list of possibilities as of now.....

Laurie L. Llenor

Laurie L. Pensynnwr

Laurie L. Lais

Laurie L. Leannan

Visually, what do you guys think? I'm so confused. unsure.gif Just when I think I like something, then it doesn't look right. Yuck!

Llenor means author in Welsh
Pensynnwr means daydreamer in Welsh
Lais means voice in Welsh

Leannan is Gaelic

I keep playing around with names. Just can't seem to find the right one. How about this one?

Laurie L. Lespeth

I'm kinda hooked into the 3 L's right now and Lespeth is a variation of Elspeth. rolleyes.gif

Does it sound too lispy?

BTW, Annabelle. I think you should just initail your work - WW (wild woman)

Visually speaking it is a tie between Laurie L. Llenor and Laurie L. Leannan. But since they are in Welsh. I would also like to know how they are pronounced as people are going to be saying your name as well.

It depends. When I write fiction I will , ocassionally, use M.R. Lovey.
But, when I'm writing something religious I tend to use Urian Lightbringer.

How I made mine up....I was looking for a good craft name actually and searched through some celtic names and found Lyra. I feel very connected to that name, so just find something that strikes something in you and makes you feel like wow, this is my soul's name. And how I got Luminara was from star wars. Luminara Unduli is a Jedi so I thought Luminara flowed very well with Lyra and thus me name was born.

If we could just stand here, without the words, would that be enough? ..Look at the sky now. What color is it? Or the way a hawk flies. Or you wake up and your ribs are bruised thinking so hard on somebody. What do you call that?
