Contrary to many people's perception, there is not just one Festival in Edinburgh during August, but a number - the Festival itself, the Fringe Festival (for the slightly less orthodox participants!), a Film and TV Festival etc.

This year, the festival proper starts on 10 August. Here's the official website which will give you a taste of just some of the things that the people of Edinburgh - and visitors - can enjoy in the coming month....

Personally, it just means that getting around the centre of the city becomes almost impossibe! But, as the number of tourists appears to be down considerably this year (at least in my opinion), maybe August won't be too bad this year! Mind, you we are going to miss the tourist income...... sad.gif

The Tattoo is one of the highlights of the Festival... I must have attended it at least 15 times over the years laugh.gif Every time a friend or family member visits from overseas, the Tattoo seems to be the one thing they all want to do.. Here's this year's programme
