I forget who coined the phrase: "Government is a necessary evil"; but while that literally goes too far (to me), I do believe it figuratively carries the truthful attitude we should have. We have to almost fight to exhaustion for our government to try to preserve it and promote the necessary good, but never trust them. Always hold them to account.

Having worked in govt for many years as my primary employment, I saw the inner workings, the power, greed, inflated ego's and corruption all the way from the top down to local govt. I, because of this, believe and promote the saying, "Love your country but fear your government."

There are two types of bureaucrats today. Those who believe it is their job to serve the people and those who believe the people are there to serve them! Today we are blessed mostly with the latter. I have watched it get worse through previous administrations and this one is "plumbing the depths!"
