Howdy Folks,

Black-eyed Peas / Hominy Hogmanay

Light the hearth,
Stoke the fire.
Fetch from the well,
Clear cold water.

Pot to the flame,
Ham bone boiling.
Now the peas,
Black eyes rolling.

Yellow cornbread,
Iron skillet cooling.
Pats of butter melt,
Happy kinfolk cooing.

Bring on the bowls,
Filled to the brim.
A dollar in your pocket,
For every pea eaten.

Pile up the plates,
Plenty of hominy.
Chicken and greens,
Its Southern Hogmanay.

Warm peach cobbler,
A glass of iced tea.
The game's just started,
Save a chair for me!

May 2005 bring you peace and properity.

Slan Y'all,
