Hello all,

I am from Nashville, Tennessee. I am a 45 yo single woman with no children and lots of dogs. I currently foster dogs for Rat Terrier ResQ - yes, I've gone to the dogs.

I was in Scotland last year for 2 weeks and loved every minute of it. Ummm, you can keep the haggis, tho! tongue.gif

I plan to return next fall - hope to attend the Border Gathering. I am German, Scottish (Kirkpatricks of Closeburn/Dumfrieshire) and Native American. Scary mix, huh? Would love to have pen/email pals to write back and forth to.

Have a wonderful day!

HLynn

Hello and welcome HLynn!

I enjoyed reading your post because your mention of Scotland made me happily remember my trip there several years ago, which started in Aberdeen, went through Fort William and ended up in Ullapool, where my company has an office. I loved every minute of it and really want to go back soon - I'm not sure when that might be, though...

You also mentioned your heritage - I'm Irish and Cherokee on my father's side and English with one part German on my mother's side - so who knows, we could be related! I'm not sure if you'd consider that scary! wink.gif If you'd like to correspond, I'll promise to write back! yes.gif

Anyway, I'm very glad you found us and I hope you'll love being here - as you've hopefully already seen for yourself, we have excellent Celtic music in several different flavors, lots and lots of forums and of course, really nice people, of which you are now one! smile.gif

Have fun wandering around and I look forward to reading your future posts! And please let us know if you have any questions or comments! bye1.gif

BTW - give your furry children a pet and a hug from me!

Best cheers! Robbie

My goodness. Thank you very kindly for the warm welcome and friendly greetings. biggrin.gif

I see that we have quite a few Canadians here. I grew up in Detroit and my family moved waaaaay south when I was 16. Talk about a culture shock! Now I wouldnt live anywhere else. I love it here in TN.

I thought that this might be of interest to some of you. Anyone hear of Clan MacBubba? Go see them at http://www.caberdancer.com/macbubba/ OR type in the search block - Clan MacBubba. I met a few of them at the Glasgow Highland Games. Fun people with a great sense of humor. Best beware, you never know what is going to happen when Southerners get ahold of "your kilt".

I love the music. Now I just have to figure out a way to listen to it while at work. The govt. firewalls stop a lot of my playing on the internet. Hmmm, you'd think they paid me to work. Wonder where they get that IDEA! wink.gif

Hi Lynn,

I went to the site - I've never heard of this "clan" before, but they do look like they're having lots of fun! smile.gif

In looking through their picture gallery, I looked at all the Charleston AGM photos and taking note of your aversion to haggis, wondered if you would ever go on a Haggis Hunt, not to mention looking for "swamp" haggis? Hmmm, sure sounds yummy! tongue.gif Thanks for the hyperlink!

Concerning playing Celtic Radio at work, my company's proxy server blocks it too - the only thing to do there is save your music on a USB drive or MP3 player and listen while you work, or is that work while you listen? Po-tae-to, Po-taa-to... walkman.gif

Tennesee has close ties with Canada. I called the Maytag Service Centre in Toronto and wound up talking to a lovely woman in Nashville. Blew my mind.

Tennessee? LOL Foreign enuf! At least you didn't get someone from another country with a hard to understand accent! I hate having to call customer support with computer questions. I wish those jobs weren't outsourced....

If you want to talk to someone with a strange accent up here all you have to do is call the Provincial Government. After you get past the Robots only the Gods know who you will be talking to.

'Lo, 'Lynn!

Welcome, and you've already seen how friendly everyone is here. This is definately the best discussion board I've ever been a member of, and you'll like it too I bet.

I'm even further south but not by too much. Visited Nashville once, and being a rabid fan of good guitar (I don't play, just listen) I got all wide-eyed in Gruhn's Guitar shop. I've never SEEN so many beautiful guitars, and guys would come in, choose one, and sit awhile pickin'... what fun. Between Gruhn's and the Ryman auditorium it was quite a treat for a music-lover like me!
