Beer: Sensible Shoes (Guiness floated on Newcastle Ale) Liquor: Carolans, O'course |
Posted by: oldraven 19-Dec-2006, 07:18 AM |
Beer: Newcastle Brown Ale, Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale, Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale Liquor: Scotch and soda, any Glen will do. Festive: I make apple cider every Christmas, but this year I get to make cider from the apples in our front yard, so I'm quite excited. |

Beer: Guinness (Everyone knows that God always intended for beer to be black!) Liquor: Laphroaig 10 yr. old |
Posted by: Emmet 19-Dec-2006, 07:39 AM
Tell me about your cider; I brew ale, wine, and mead, but I've never had much luck with ciders. |

Can only drink a tiny amount over a long period -- I have a sissy liver. But when I do: Beer: Guinness stout (what else?) liquor: Drambuie fussy froofy stuff: Campari |

Oh, I'm not at that level. This is stove top mulled apple cider, with already fermented extras added about twenty minutes before it's ready to drink. Apple juice (about 3 litres) Apples quartered, cored, and peeled (pear-apples are nice) cinnomin sticks Some freshly grated nutmeg I let that simmer for about an hour, then add the goodies and let it simmer for another 20 minutes. A lot of the alcohol boils off by the time you drink it, so it's for warming and enjoying, not getting smashed. 1/2 L Glenfiddich 1/2 L Appleton Estates Jamaican Spiced Rhum Then I run it through cheese cloth and place it back on the warm burner to keep it steaming. The left over apples make awesome tarts, for those with the aquired taste. This year we have a large apple tree on our front lawn, so we harvested half a diaper box of these crab apples (gread for tangy cider, but not so much for pie). |

Beer: Harp, Guinness, or Heineken -- No domestic sewage water please! I try, really I do. I did a tasting at the Anhauser Busch brewery in St. Louis. Had to tell them their attempt at a stout was crap. To their face. Couldn't drink much of anything there. Mixed: White Russian or a Rattlesnake Wine: a good Merlot |

I really love Kilkenny beer! Guiness is a very close, too... And then it's Single Malt; especially Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie and Lagavulin. |

When I'm drinking stout it must be Guinness, for beer either Newcastle or Sam Adams For Whiskey, Edradour is the best single malt that I have found. They are a small Pitlocary distillery. What they make in a year, Dewars makes in a week. |

Hope Whisky counts as in ARDBEG oh yeah.......has anyone out there tasted this whisky before? For beer the darket the better and I have to add salt to the top don't know why my father started me doing that. Cheers |

As anyone who knows me well is aware, I'm not really a drinker ... and the number of alcoholic drinks I have in a month can be counted on one hand! (yes, and they'll also tell you I'm a bit of a light weight, get very giggly and end up falling asleep after having even a couple of glasses of wine! ) Anyhow, I do drink some wine (by the glass rather than the bottle) and beer wise I'd drink lager in preference to an ale ... my main short is vodka and diet coke - but I do enjoy vodka, lime and tomato juice (yes, in the same glass) as well as Martini and grapefruit juice |

Hi all, For me, it's 12-year old Pure Malt Strathisla blended with either filtered rain water or if unavailable, Calastoga pure mountain spring water. I no longer find I have a liking for beer, wine or anything else, since I was never much of a drinker. Oh, one other drink comes to mind - I keep a bottle on my boat - a good fifth of Pusser's Rum, which is a good way to keep the chill away on the night watch , in moderation, of course! Bottoms up! |

Beer- I really like Harp or Fat Tire. Bass is good as well. I'll have to try the salt thing Rindy. Maybe I'lllike a darker stout that way. Mixed- Margaritas are my favorite, but I also like Cape Cod and Sloe Gin Fizz Never tried whiskey or scotch...I know...what's wring with me?!?! I like tequilla though |

It used to be that all American beers were cold bathwater. The advent of the microbrews changed that. Sam Adams is probably the only good mass production brand, and is basically a large collection of microbrews. I still like the British Bitter a lot. "a pint of your best bitter, please, the strong". |
Posted by: Aaediwen 28-Dec-2006, 06:26 PM
I thought Fat Tire was local to Washington State (Perticularly the Olympic Pennensula). I'd never heard of it before my trip. On our way back up the coast, we stopped at this little town, I think it was the night we spent in WestPort, actually. Fat Tire was all the rage! Everyone kept telling us we had to try it. Dad nor I either one had ever heard of it. Your post here is the second time I have ever heard of it. As I recall now, it was drinkable. I stuck with Guinness that night. |

I guess I should officially be kicked off of Celtic Radio...because I don't like beer of any kind. I do like hard cider and hard lemonade. I like Arbor Mist Wines (more like wine drinks)...they're yummy! As for the other stuff... Irish Mist Bailey's Irish Creme Malibu Rum and Pineapple Juice |

Naaw, we ought not kick you out. we'll just set you up with different drinks Ever heard of a drink called a Nutty Irishman? If we ever get the chance, I need to pour you a Rattlesnake |

Guinness, Jameson and coke, Tullamore Dew and sweet and sour, Irish Cream on the rocks, any good mead, any MGD. I also brew dandilion wise, rose wine, and cloven mead, and I have started to work with fruit meads. |

I would have to say Ardbeg Whisky--you can find them here..http://www.ardbeg.com/ Slainte |

Guinness, Finnegans Irish Amber, or Skullsplitter for the beer. If possible though I head straight for the mead-Bunratty, Chaucers, or some of that wonderful stuff they make for the MN Ren faire sold here www.the-mead-booth.com Nummy! Otherwise I go with Samual Adams or Killians if necessary. |

Beer: Guinness or Moose Drool Mixed drinks: Black Velvet & water (a ditch) or Sex on the Beach.....however I don't know how to mix this one and can't go to the bars anymore because of the smoke |
Posted by: Dreamer1 22-Apr-2007, 06:40 PM |
I'm not much of a Beer drinker either, most are too bitter for me, but I do like the Pumpkinhead Ale (here at the Salem Beer Works). I also like what my hubby calls an Old Scottish Ale (he's done some home brewing in his time). As far as liquor goes, please just give me some Bailey's - NO ice, and I'm happy as a clam. If there's no Bailey's around, then I'll just have to settle for some good ol' Dry Sack sherry Wine, well I'm not too fussy as long as it's more on the dry side. It really depends on the meal I'm having it with! |

If we're talking a few drinks with dinner, Guinness no doubt. But if we're talking about duration drinking I have to go with http://yuengling.com/- either the Lager or Black&Tan (porter and beer, mixed at the brewery). For either one, I can drink darn near unlimited quantites with never any problems the next day- except maybe being a little tired from being up too late. They're the only domestic beers I'll touch. Even Sam Adams has begun to get too big for my tastes. Sam isn't like it was a decade ago. |

Any dark or Red beer Vodka, Rum, and some Whiskeys mixed with any type of pop. |

While on vacation I found a yummy girly drink! On the cruise they called it a Stingray, but I can't find the recepie under that name anywhere. I found a recepie that is close with a few differences. Anyway, it has Captian Morgan's Rum, Midori, Pineapple juice and cranberry juice. We drink them a little too often now at home, and probably a few too many too. They are good though! |

I indulged myself in a bottle of Bushmill's 16 yo single malt last night. One small drink so far.....it is devine! I will limit myself to one ounce a day, maximum. |
Posted by: JaneyMae 30-Jun-2007, 09:18 PM |
Well then I may need to come help you drink the one ounce at a time - |
Posted by: Gwynhwyvar 20-Jul-2007, 02:30 PM |
Bushmills - my husband's favorite. As a matter of fact, that's where his ancestors came from. As for me - anything from the Orkney Brewing Company - especially Fraoch Heather Ale or their Skull Splitter. |

I was wandering around the small coastal town of Cambridge one night, after getting the family all setteled in at the motel, I ducked into a liquor store and emerged with a couple of battles of "Kilt Lifter Ale". It was good beer- can't recall where it was brewed, but have yet to find it anywhere since. Quinness is a staple, Dos Equis is good when Newcastle isn't available. My wife is partial to Heffenwiesen- anything they brew. I like to pick up new beers on the weekend just to keep the taste buds sharp - Moose Drool was one I tried last weekend. Arrogant Bastard Ale is always a bitter one to get me going. I don't drink hard liquor of any kind- unless I've already had several beers and it's offered- then, the 'ol willpower just dissolves and- boom- down the hatch. |
Posted by: Gwynhwyvar 22-Jul-2007, 03:51 AM |
How was the Moose Drool? I have heard of it, but can't seem to find it around here. I like to look for interesting names of beers and ales and such - i.e. Old Engine Oil, Skull Splitter (one of my favorites - Guinness is my all time fav.) and others and take them to gatherings where you have to BYOB. Another favorite is a Belgian beer Rochefort 10 - it has a very high alcohol content and a Quadrupel, if anyone understands what that means!!! It is very drinkable, and it packs quite a wallop! If you drink it while sitting down and you go to get up, WOW! One other favorite is La Choufee. |
Posted by: Robert Phoenix 22-Jul-2007, 09:55 PM |
Kilt Lifter ale is brewed in Tempe AZ Here is a link. http://www.fourpeaks.com/beers.asp Gwynhwyvar, I can't believe you are able to get Skullspliter. I have to travel an hour and a half to get it. Good stuff though and well worth the trip. |

Robert - Smyrna World of Beverages - about 3 miles from where I live. They offer just about anything you would EVER want! When one of the VERY friendly (as opposed to those that bug you) staff asks if you are finding everything alright, they will also ask you if there is anything that you are looking for that they may not have. So, every couple of weeks (payday to be exact) my husband and I stock up for the weekends. |

Yes in a small pub in a tiny village called Portnoo while in Ireland Co.Donegal with wonderful folks we've met. We didn't pay the beer of course. But while I like to enjoy a beer I do appreciate a good scotch sometimes at night and two in particular are the Glenfiddich or Ballantyne. Verra good.Hmmmm |

The question is: What is your drink?......anything free. So I'm easy to please. As long as it does not blow up when someone lights a smoke it's worth trying...........right????? |

My general night at the house brew would be any of the Sam Adams....but if I am at a pub and they brew their own, I go for an IPA or a wheat brew. Never had the stomach for liquor.... Bailey's and Coffee is always a favorite. |

I have many funny coinkydinkies when browsing these forums-- I am drinking my fave drink- which is my hubby's homemade hard cider with a cap of (sigh- I feel as if we are all too predictable here) Guinness. It's called a Crown Float. I asked him to share his cider making tips but he said it's the same as any book would tell you. We support a local farmer though, about 4 bushels a year-- light and crispy as champagne. I'm not partial or anything, but it's a phenomenal combo. His fave Scotches: Lagavulin 16 yo, Caol Isla 18 yo, Couvrer 12 yo single single Her fave drink: Hendrix martini No shooters for either, but I love good microbrew beers. My faves are Dogfish Head ale, Flying Dog ale, and most things from the Magic Hat line. |
