Hi Janet

I did a quick search for Scottish events in Kentucky and here is what I came up with in addition to the link your gave. The items below are copied and pasted from the site and is all the info I could get on it but maybe you could contact them to get more info. Also not 100% if any are duplicates but worth a check anyways.

Quote:
KENTUCKY

Glasgow Highland Games and Gathering of Clans

May Each Year, Barren River Lake State Park

       Lucas, Ky. (502) 651-3141

The link below has allot of games nationwide so might be a good source for others as well.

This next link has some info on a Ketucky Scottish weekend with a link to the site make sure to check it out.

Scottish events and dates from around the country great listing!!!

http://www.scotbanner.com/events/events02.html

That should give you some additional info. If you want to see the entire listing I got try http://www.google.com

All I did was enter in "Scottish events" and "Kentucky" in the search box typed in just as it is in bold including the " " or you can try this link which should give you same results as well. Was a total of 55 hits not all are relevent but maybe some more info to help you out.

Hi Falachaidh,

I have only seen this name once, so it must be you! Welcome aboard! Glad you stopped by for a visit and thanks for posting some information on Highland Games in your area.

I am interested about this international Clan gathering. Is this like a mega gathering of the clans? I have only attended Highland Games in the Northeast so far.

Feel free to tell us about your Highland Dance experience. We are all interested in the Game events - and Highland Dance is a favorite of mine!

Take care and keep on dancing! :D

I went to the Savannah Games last year and was allot of fun. Can't say how it was compared to others as was my first time ever going. I missed this year as I had to go to Japan with my wife as her father had passed away the month before  so we didn't get back in time to go this year. Last years was hot though heat wise. We went with some friends of ours she's from Edinburgh and was the first time for her as well she had never been before either here or in Scotland. She spent a ton of time at the lindsay and Douglas clan boothes as she's part of both from both her mom and dad's sides of the family.  :)

Here is the website to a local event Kentucky Celtic Festival sponsored by Kilted Kinsmen at http://kiltedkinsmen.tripod.com/id46.htm

The link to the Kentucky Highland Games can be found at

Each year I compete at both Kentucky games. As of last year, they only had two full sets of games. Here are their websites:

the Kentucky weekend is held in Carrollton, KY which is near Louisville. These games keep getting bigger every year I go, but they still have the time to answer your questions and help you out at every opportunity. They're held in a state park which is one of the most beautiful sites I've been to for highland games. They have camping available and a couple of nearby hotels.

Glasgow highland games are the neatest games I ever attended! They are near Mammoth Cave and are held in a state park. It's usually hot and sticky, but are so worth going! Last year they held the International Clan Gathering and it was huge!!! The dancing is always of exceptional quality as well as the pipers and bands. (never get to see the athletes, but I've heard they keep breaking records there)
Every year we camp, and is so worth it!

:D                                                                             :D

Savannah & Atlanta (Stone Mountain) Georgia also both have games. I have Savannahs link on my highland games page though last time I checked the link wasn't working so not sure what is up with this. Have contacted the webmaster but never heard back from him.  :ss

Have you ever been to the Savannah Games??
I went to Stone Mountain once and really enjoyed myself.
Although, I really want to go to the Celtic Classic and Grandfather Mountain.
Has anyone been to either?

Falachiadh.
