With the administrator of Albannach's permission, I thought I would let you know what is going on with this new fabulous band.. There is also a clip at the end if you want to see them in action.. Hopefully new CD's will be out soon.

Hello,

As you may be aware, Albannach is a new Scottish band formed by 5 former members of the band Clann An Drumma.

While parting company from Clann An Drumma was a sad moment for all involved, especially for you ? their fantastic fans, some of the group decided that they wanted to carry on giving their fans the kind of loud, blood-pumping, euphoric entertainment that you all crave so much !

Jamesie, Jacquie, Donnie, Kyle and Aya, would like to thank Joe Kilna MacKenzie for their time with Clann An Drumma, and wish him all the best for the future with Clann An Drumma. We are sure they will continue to be just as successful as ever.

To that end; Jamesie, Jacquie, Donnie, Kyle and Aya have decided to get together and form a new band? so, please join us in witnessing the birth of ?Albannach? !!

Albannach is Gaelic for ?Scottish?, and the guys already have new music, a new feature packed website and they are now planning their first tour as Albannach.

The tour will be commencing early in 2006, and they plan to cover as much of Europe as possible, North America? they may even venture into Canada? and not to forget their home country, SCOTLAND!

We hope that as previous fans of the group, or even if you have never heard of us before - that you will join us and become a fully fledged fan of Albannach.

For more information, and for regular updates on what is happening with Albannach, please visit our new website : http://www.albannachonline.com

Thanks for reading !

Slainte,
Albannach !

Well...this should be interesting to see how the newly formed Albannach does. Will their music be of the same sort? Blood pumping, foot stomping sort? Will Jacquie do any more singing? She has such a lovely voice I hope they'll take advantage of her (voice that is...)

I've checked out their site too...once it really gets up and going then we should know more. It seems they are busy booking already though...

Keep me posted Rindy!!

With Jamesie Johnstons permission, I thought I would post his story that he posted on the Albannach's website:

Just a wee note to let you know how the gig went last night.
Am sure you have read black devon and pink pixes posts but i'll give you a wee run down as well.

Arrived last night early to set up the drums, lights and P.A system....auld reekie was well cold last night so we ran about trying to keep warm!

After we set up it was of to the bar down stairs for a wee refreshment....its hard work you know.

Met Black devon down there and a wee lassie from the other side of the pond......must add it was great to see afriendly face from the states.......and yes MUM we looked after her!

Of up stairs we went......the other band was on first and the natives were warming up....great atmosphere all thanks to the organizer Fiona Robertson......she had the place looking great.....flags and posters everywhere.

Our good friend Davie Ross takes to the mic and gave a heart warming speech as he always does.....then it was time for the thunder......you could feel the electric charge running through the crowd.......dirks and swords were drawn, all glinting of the lights set up behind us.......Donnie cranks up the pipes....the crowd roar....Kyle bursts in to rythem......Jacks and my base drums shake the floor and Aya start'S the rockin......HERE WE GO!

It was bounc'in.....at some points it gets a bit mental with these gigs....the crowd has such passion they have the whole place jumpin and swayin to the drums.....its a sight to behold!

Towards the end of the show your good friend JACOBITE 1745 was up the front giv'in the whole crowd a lesson on how to dance tribal style......am sure B.D and P.P will agree he did us proud!

Again it was another magical nite.......i think band and crowd alike were all left exhausted ......but all ready and waiting for the next tribal awkening!

Slainte........Jamesie.........ALBANNACH FOREVER!!

Posted by: Firecracker 06-Dec-2005, 07:39 AM
Rindy~Maybe they will make it out to your area so
you can finally meet them.
Who knows what adventures the new band Albannach will embark
upon in 2006 wink.gif

We are already making plans for them to make the journey
back home to Glasgow~their home away from home smile.gif

Hi cynni smile.gif
If the band makes it back up to your Highland Games we may
be planning a road trip wink.gif

Posted by: cynni 06-Dec-2005, 11:51 AM
It would be so wonderful to see y'all again. thumbs_up.gif

Posted by: Firecracker 06-Dec-2005, 07:24 PM
Soon! cynni Soon! wink.gif
Will y'all be making it to the Gatlinburg Games?

Posted by: cynni 06-Dec-2005, 09:10 PM
I am pretty sure we will. I ahve to make our Reservations at Fairfield.Soon I hope this winter goes real quick.

Posted by: Firecracker 07-Dec-2005, 08:09 AM
Fairfield? Where exactly is that located?
We have already made our reservations.. wishing we were packed
ready to be there. wink.gif

I think we will be getting a camp site for the Glasgow Games this year.
Where do y'all stay for those?

It seems so strange to already be making plans for Albannach
when the gigs are still so far away. cool.gif
You almost have to do that to get sleeping arrangments taken care of. wink.gif

Posted by: cynni 07-Dec-2005, 03:28 PM
We have timeshares at Fairfield. They are located in Sevierville, TN. Just across from Walmart. It is a really nice place. They are getting a site in Gatlinburg also. When they get that one going we will stay there.

When we went to the games this year. We parked the car and caught the trolley into Gatlinburg.

Posted by: Firecracker 08-Dec-2005, 09:24 AM
The trolley is great!

Our hotel is only about 15 mins away from the games so we just
drove.
I look for those games to be much bigger this year b/c of Albannach
Their fan base has grown in size so much within the year that we
have became groupies wink.gif

Will your children be coming this year?

Posted by: cynni 08-Dec-2005, 03:08 PM
I love that word "Groupie" thumbs_up.gif Sounds so cool. I can't wait to see the group again. May can't get here soon enough.
I am not sure if Wendy and Ian will be going with us or not. If I am not mistaken they are still in school that week. There last day of school is May 23. If they want to go we will let them go.

Posted by: Firecracker 08-Dec-2005, 03:50 PM
Who ever thunk we'd be "groupies" at this age, aye cool.gif biggrin.gif

We are truly more like family than groupies.
Wish you could have been at VanHoy...
That was the best! It was like a huge family reunion
We are so hoping they do another gig there in 2006

Posted by: CelticRose 09-Dec-2005, 12:08 AM
Hello all! I have yet to make reservations anywhere until I know where Albannach will be. I had planned to go to GA the spring/summer of 2006 but it may not turn out. Instead, DH and I might likely take a trip up to Colorado. Something we have been wanting to do for a long time.

I can only hope that Albannach makes it out west and if they do, I will do what I can to see them and meet y'all. But, I guess we will just have to see, aye?

I wish the best for them all!

Keep me posted!

Posted by: cynni 09-Dec-2005, 04:43 AM
I wish we could of been there also. But $$$$ money kept us from going.
I am glad that I have been able to meet all these people. Like You said
firecraker it is one big happy family. I get along better with this family
than I do with my brothers.
I am hoping that if they do VanHoyfthat we will be able to go.

CR- You just got to think positive "ALANNACH WILL BE OUT WEST" biggrin.gif

Please forgive me for not understanding, but I don't understand why everyone has jumped on the bandwagon for this band so quickly without any explanation of why they so coldly and ruthlessly gutted Clann an Drumma, taking everything excpet Joe with them. Personally I think it was one of the coldest and most cruel things I have ever seen anyone do, and I'm not jumping on the band wagon so fast. Not without an explanation. Sorry.

I have not left CAD. I Hope to see CAD soon.
I am really sad about what happen. I really don't know
all the circumstances, so I don't take sides.
But that just gives us 2 great bands to listen to. thumbs_up.gif
I really wish the CAD forum was running. I miss it. sad.gif

WizardofOwls~You learn in life not to believe everything you read.
Like divorce~No one knows how a situation is until you are in it.

We wish Joe and his crew all the best
The CAD forum is suppose to be back up and going this weekend

For those Albannach fans~
They are having a photo contest in their forum that is hilarious !
Come join in the fun! smile.gif

What do y'all think of the new look on the Albannch site. I kinda like it.

Posted by: cynni 10-Dec-2005, 07:07 AM
Firecracker. I saw the pics. I like the one with Jamesie and Donnie in the tub the best. rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Firecracker 10-Dec-2005, 07:15 AM
I'm not big on change but I do like the new look of the forum..it is also much easier to get around. Chris does a great job for us... which I am very thankful for.

I called Lillie yesterday to tell her to check out those pictures..she laughed so hard! I thought she was gonna pee her pants! biggrin.gif
Her favorite is the leprechauns and I must say that is a good one! Everytime I look at that one I get so tickled that I can't think of a caption to use. biggrin.gif

Isn't the band so much fun? They couldn't have given us a better gift
for Christmas~laughter wink.gif

Posted by: cynni 10-Dec-2005, 07:30 AM
I could just see her laughing like that. I did when I seen the one on Donnie.
I would never of thought he could have so much hair. Never thought Jacquie could get so messy. wink.gif

Chris does a great job on the site. You are so right about getting around easier.

Hi Wizard,- I understand what your saying.. Everything that happened did for a reason..we must move on- as we all know everything in life changes..and this is for the best..its over and done with. I am wishing both the bands the best of luck...hope this kind of settles your mind some what Wizard..we have two to listen too now...everyone is entitled to make their own opinion I am for both of them...I hope you will listen to both bands..have a happy evening...

Hi Firecracker- I did hear the site has been handed over to the other administrator/ company- and as Joe said they will be back..with lots of surprises..I am sure he will have it back up and running as soon as he can..busy time of year with Christmas and family and friends.
I can't wait-
Those pictures of the band on the Albannach site are really great- so much fun.

Hello all! I have been having some major computer problems that I am still working on and about to go bonkers, but where there is a will there is a way, aye?!

I am anxious to hear and see both Albannach and CAD's schedule.

Wizard, my friend, I don't think anyone here has abanonded CAD. Most of these people have met them and know them personally and call them friends. I know for myself, I support both bands and whatever happened between all the members is their business and not mine. So I am anxious to hear both lineups for both CAD and Albannach and wishing them the best in the future and also hoping they come out west to see me! tongue.gif laugh.gif

Posted by: Rindy 11-Dec-2005, 09:27 AM
Hi Celtic Rose,
If you click on the Albannach site they have some of their gigs listed. Guess I should pop the big question for us huh? It would be nice to see both of them I would be happy with just one...I will be happy with the new cd's and dvd..
its good to see you I hope you get that computer figured out..

I will let you know as soon as I hear anything at all-have a great day.

No explanation is really needed from CAD or Albannach. This is very simple to figure out, if you know CAD's music and history.

The first cd had about half the songs on it that really smoked and that's the ones everyone remembers and request all the time. The follow-up cd's had very little with songs that really moved you. Joe was stuck in a rut with the same tribal type songs and the other band members, all being much younger than Joe, had way to much energy to expel and got bored with the music. Look at all of the new videos that Albannach have released. They all smoke.

Joe will put together a very worthy band but it won't be the high energy band that everyone knew.

I got to see Albannach play live minus Jacquie and your are right~They do smoke! Literally!
It was cold the night of their gig and smoke was coming off of Kyle's head! heheheee
Seriously~The guys did a great job and we look forward to seeing them play once again along with Jacquie and Davey

Posted by: cynni 11-Dec-2005, 11:13 PM
I can't wait to see Davey play again. He was totally awesome. I wonder if he ever got his ghillies?

Posted by: Firecracker 11-Dec-2005, 11:17 PM
I have only got to see Davey play once at the Glasgow Games so I look forward to seeing him along with his family once again. smile.gif

Hopefully you will be able to ask him about the ghillies soon wink.gif

I got to see Ashley's ghillies and y'all did an awesome job! smile.gif

Posted by: cynni 11-Dec-2005, 11:22 PM
We got to see him at the Glasgow games twice and in Pa once. He is really awesome as Darryl would say. We even got to meet his wife at Glasgow.
I am glad you liked Ashley's ghillies. Have you seen Elegenna's? She got a pair also. I really hope they like them.

Posted by: Firecracker 12-Dec-2005, 06:33 AM
This was at Robin's bday party where I saw Ashley's ghillies..Elgenna had to come there straight from work so she didn't have hers on. smile.gif

Has Donnie orderd a pair of boots? It seems that he is the only band member of
Albannach that doesn't have them. wink.gif

I loved Gunnar's ghillies! Those were so cute! smile.gif

Posted by: cynni 12-Dec-2005, 06:56 AM
I am glad that Ashley is wearing hers. That means she likes them.
No Donnie has not ordered a pair of boots yet. But don't think that John hasn't tried to sell him a pair. Cause he has tried.
The sad thing is I don't have a pair yet. dry.gif

Posted by: Firecracker 12-Dec-2005, 01:11 PM
Money might be tight for our little piper wink.gif
Beer and cigs aren't cheap, ya know smile.gif

I may have John fit my feet for a pair next time we meet.
I'd love to have some ghillies... they look so comfortable!

Cindy~Are we allowed to post pics of the band in this thread or is there
a photo thread else where?
Don't want to make the mistake of posting wrong again rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif

First of all, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas, and we hope you have a wonderful new year... we'll raise a glass (or 3) to you at the bells !

Since Albannach formed nearly 2 months ago, it has been absolutely non-stop for us ! We have been working flat-out with some great gigs, organising our 2006 tour, and of course - recording our first (and second) CD Albums... there's also been a little work on a DVD !!

Our 2006 tour is going to be BIG... Here's a little early Christmas present for you - we have just confirmed that we will be at Grandfather Mountain 6th-9th July 2006 ! Along with Bridgeport W.V, Gatlinburg T.N, and the Glen Rock Fairie Festival in P.A...in May, then Glasgow K.Y. Highland Games in June it's going to be a great summer for us... and we hope you will join us on the road and make it a year to remember.

We are planning on releasing our CD albums towards the end of January 2006, but you know how these things go, it may be a little later, it may be a little earlier... regardless, we will let you all know as soon as they are ready to roll.

Once our CD's are released, we will also be launching our Online Radio service, where you can listen to our music online. 24/7, wherever you are !

Looking forward to 2006, we can't wait for our family of 'misfits' to grow, lets make the shows and the audiences as wild as ever !

So, from us to you: have a great holiday period, and join us back on our website once you have recovered !

Happy Holidays :-)

With Big Brother(Sister) watching~I'll try to behave..but there are no promises wink.gif
I came by the nickname~Firecracker honestly angel_not.gif
and being an Albannach "misfit" doesn't help much either biggrin.gif

Now~back to the subject of this thread

If anyone thinks they may be coming to the
Glasgow Highland Games to see Albannach and would be needing lodging please let me know.
I would be more than happy to post hotel numbers. We are very limited with lodging in Glasgow so I would reserve my room now.
We also have lots of nice campgrounds close to where the games are held.
If I can be of any help just let me know. smile.gif

Hi to Firecracker and Celtic Rose. Since I feel pretty much the novas, with this internet stuff, some how I still feel as though I’ve been eves dropping, but when I read that either of you have not yet, been fortunate enough to have been to Scotland. I thought you might like to hear my little story. Anyway, it all started two years a go when I asked my daughter Lillian where she wanted to go to celebrate her High School graduation, and you guessed it, she said Scotland. Not being much of a planner, the next thing I knew was, Lilly and Jeanie my wife, and of course myself, landed in Glasgow. Where we toured the city for a couple of days on public transportation, we even visited Paisley, which is where my mother was born, and where there is a fantastic thirteenth century Abby. We didn’t have a chance to go to Combs Lang, where my farther was born, but next tim. From that point we rented a car and made our way north west, stopping at B&B’s along the way. Eight days later we found ourselves in Edinburgh with another two days before we had to return to Glasgow for our flight home. Funny, because I felt like I was leaving home to go home, even though I had never been to Scotland before. But on the way we sang to Loch Lomond, passed through The Valley of Glen Coe, took a steam train From Fort William to have lunch at Mallaig, which is a quaint little fishing village. Buy the way, Haggis does take getting use to. We ferried to the Isle of Mull from Oban, and I had to be dragged off the Isle Sky, because I didn’t want to leave. We drove over Apple Cross, which is the highest mountain in the British Isles, and I must say from that vantage point even the Caribbean Sea is a close second to the Irish Sea. From there we had to head east to see if we could catch a glimpse of Nessie, but no luck. From there we tested some of the finest Scotch at varies breweries, while passing through Inverness and St Andrews and other little towns headed for Edinburgh, which is a must see, or even better a must live. I guess what I trying to saying is, that going to Scotland should be high on any ones list, and if I were you guys. I would get there by any means possible, which would include, by hook or by crook, by going into debt, or even being sedated, if I were afraid to fly. So move it, who knows, maybe you’ll be fortunate enough to stay there. I hope to some day.
Best regards
John Clements

John~I love when people share their times in Scotland with us! I can see the beautiful land through their eyes. Do you have some pictures to share of your trip? I love pictures!

My fear for flying is so great that there will be no seeing Scotland for me. My palms start to sweat when I drive by an airport. That is one reason I value every word written, every picture taken, every note played by Albannach... b/c it all brings Scotland to me.

I hope that you get to return home again some day and once again can share with us about your homeland. smile.gif

BTW~My daughters name is also Lillian

I really hope to get there one day, if they have to knock me out on the flight over! I love to fly normally, but have a fear of flying for that long and especially over the Atlantic...a great BIG ocean! EEP!

Firecracker, what photo contest are you talking about?

they had a contest to let the fans come up with captions for those pictures.
The fans have done a great job and now it's time to pick the winners. smile.gif

Thanks for that info, Rindy. I'm excited to know the Celtic Fest is coming back to Beckley WV in August. I attended that one for the two years it was there and then last year they cancelled it. I have no clue why! Do you know where the Blue Ridge Celtic Festival takes place at? Is it at Boone NC, maybe? I've been there many times in the past few years. I love it there in the HIgh Country!

Misfits....
Am tired and just out of bed.......had two cups of coffee and still no result.
Last night was real fun....it was a pleasure to play in our home town and the crowd didnt let us down!
As B.D mentioned we did play THREE NEW tracks from the new album.....2 pipe and drums and one vocal.....i am pleased to say one thinks they went down proper...HA!
The B.B.C did turn up at the end and we gave them hard drummin and furious pipes....so keep your eye on the bbc for the programme"blowing in the wind".

So....we now turn our eyes to next friday and the oran-mor....BRING IT ON!!

Here is a update on Albannach

Misfits....
A wee note to keep fan's of the band and friends up to date with whats happening here in Scotland.
The album is just about ready to go to print.......the band are really happy and excited about this and are positive that the fans of ALBANNACH are going to be blown away by the power of the music!!

We are continuing to work on the D.V.D , it is a work in progress and we are hopeful to have this released before we start the 2006 U.S TOUR!!!

As well as new music there will also be NEW band merchandice for the misfits to sport at the festivals and shows the band will be playing at.

Band member DAVIE RAMONE will also have a wide range of "ORIGINAL ART OF THE ALBANNACH" collectables for sale......these are not to be missed!

As you all know we are working with our north American agent and we have already started looking towards 2007.....but first things first.....LETS ROCK IN 2006!!

So...the countdown is on and ALBANNACH are getting ready...............ARE YOU READY???

Best wishes.........ALBANNACH.

Thanks Rindy! Looks like Albannach have their schedule all laid out! Sadly, it does not include the west. Oh well. I am looking very forward to the DVD and CD that comes out soon, if nothing else. Keep us posted, ok?

I got the new Albannach CD yesterday and I must say it is superb, excellent and magnificent. Just keeps you wanting to dance. It has kind of a mid-eastern influence in their music and the vocals by Jacquie are beyond excellent. I can't say enough about this CD...I just absolutely love it! thumbs_up.gif

I'll bump this thread along with the one for the "Wicked Tinkers".

The line-up for "Pipes In The Valley" in Hartford, CT at the end of September should be a HUGE draw for those who are local from CelticRadio.net

Look at the line-up and tell me that this ain't a Paul MacArthur Appreciation-fest!!!

Posted by: CelticRose 24-Sep-2006, 03:39 AM
Hey Jimmy! Wish I could be in CT to see both Albannach and the Wicked Tinkers. They are both very different bands and I appreciate them both so much! I have seen the WT's play live 2 times, never seen Albannach play live. I am sure all will enjoy themselves immensely either way. Anxious to hear how it all goes.

Jimmy, I hope you will have some pics of the PITV show you can share with us.

Since there's only one stage, I know that we'll have the chance to take shots of everyone at some point. Naturally, the backstage shots will stay with me... but the crowd and band shots will be on JimmyCarbomb.com at some point.

To those who can make it, make sure to introduce yourself!

Albannach recently did a charity gig to help raise
money for the Schiehallion Ward of
Yorkhill Sick Children's Hospital Glasgow.

Quoted from Jamesie of Albannach~

"The team at crann tarra and the band have come up with
the idea to set up a special account for any ALBANNACH MISFITS
who wish to make a donation. So check out the link http://www.cranntara.org.uk/schie.htm
and you can see whats been done so far and how YOU can help as well!
The link also lets you see how the ward helps these children
and how the money the misfits raise will go
to bringing a wee bit more comfort and happiness to their lives."

If you would like to help with this wonderful cause please
donate
There is no amount to small and it's all for the children smile.gif

Darn it! I checked out the myspace site and now I've become addicted to myspace sites. I covered so many myspace pages in the last two days of all the celtic bands I like that I may never listen to pop or rock music again. Like that's a bad thing. rolleyes.gif Albannach has been one of the coolest ones I've seen. I will be getting this album sometime but I've got 3 tuxes to pay rental fees on for my brothers wedding first. Maybe some day they and Barley juice will hit Irishfest. Please?
