Thank you for your post. I managed to read it and the effects were greatly felt.
I have never been able to convince my partner to trace the lost brothers and sisters that were sent to Australia.
At the age of 55 the scars still hurt him.

I remember seeing a documentary - I think on BBC1 - about an organisation based in the Midlands - somewhere like Nottingham or Derby - that helped trace UK siblings of the emigrant children.

I'll have a bit of a search and see what I can find. Maybe if you had an organisation for your partner to contact, he might be more amenable to starting what can appear to be an insurmountable task?

The programme I saw was chiefly centred on the notorious Christian Brothers home at Bindoon in Australia.

A truly awful place. The cruelty and sexual abuse suffered by children there should be made known to a wider audience.
