Here here donalmaclaren I completely agree i am like the biggest history buff and I think of when the English banned the Scotts for having swords I think they made a movie about what happened. OOOOO yeah it's called Braveheart granted there is alot of hollywood in that movie but it gets the gist across

It was a "knee jerk" reaction to a rapidly rising violent crime rate precipitated on a firearms ban. The citizens are always the first line of defense re: violent crime. Stands to reason as only the criminal and the victim are present for the criminal act in most occasions
