I'm planning to visit Scotland as soon as I get out of school. I've always been interested in visiting since I was very young and my Grandfather taught me about my family/clan heritage. I've been trying to learn the customs prior to visiting such as don't complain and don't say your scottish when you were born in another country which I understand. However I still have some questions prior to traveling. My questions for everyone on the forums who are from or live in Scotland is 1. What are some customs I should definitely be aware prior to visiting? and 2. I've heard mixed things from friends who have gone to Scotland is how friendly people are to tourists? I've heard that many people in Scotland do not like American's but at the same time I've heard from friends who have visited that it's one of the friendliest countries they've visited. I know being from America we have a bad image overall in most people's eyes. Does Scotland look down on American tourists or are we for the most part welcome? I appreciate any feedback you would be willing to share with me.
