I'm new to this site. I was looking for some good celtic music to get me going while I did chores around the house. I found that I couldn't listen to music unless I signed up. Now that I've signed up and can't hear the music. I'm frustrated and need your help. Thank you for your time.

Hello and welcome forgottenirishprincess!

We're very glad that you found Celtic Radio! I'm not sure I can help you with the problem you have, but I've found that I need to associate another program to be able to play music - I use VLC and it works great! I hope the Celtic music "techies" will respond soon to your request!

On another note, there's lots to see and do in all the forums, so please be sure to wander around! There's also excellent Celtic music in varying formats (traditional to rock), which as soon as you get your player working, you'll hear, not to mention the nicest people you can find on the Internet! smile.gif

We're a helpful lot, so if ever you have questions, please let us know - there's always somebody around that will be able to help! Have fun and I look forward to reading your future posts!

Best cheers! Robbie

Hello again FIP smile.gif

I got home tonight and thought more about what you wrote and tried getting Live365 on a different computer - one that just had IE 7.0 and no associated music player on it.

I hope that you can see the screen shot I took, which should be below. One thing I did was to flush the browser cache - you can do this by going to Tools, then Internet Options (this is for IE) - then just click on the button to delete all temporary records and files - this helps sometimes, but I'm certainly not going to say this is your system's problem, since this is only my guess.

I was able to get the radio working after I signed in. I hope you let us know some more details when you have time - I'm sure there are many others far better suited to help you than I, but that doesn't stop me from trying! wink.gif

Have a good night!

PS - I just found this - perhaps it might also help: http://www.live365.com/help/listen/windows/index.html

Hi, FIP, from the Navajo Nation in Northern Arizona! Glad you found this place.

You might want to post this problem on the Technical Support thread. We've got some pretty smart folks here who might see the post there and have a good solution for you. Just go to the Community link like you did to post here and scroll down until you see the Technical Support thread. Hope this helps.

Welcome aboard and have a great day!

Hello Forgottenirishprincess - sorry I can't help you at all. I am not very god with computer issues - I know how to turn it on and a few other things - I leave the technical stuff to my kids, who are born knowing that stuff. Anyway, welcome to Celtic Radio from down south in Georgia. This is a great place with lots of great people. I hope you get your problem fixed.

[B][SIZE=7][FONT=Arial][COLOR=DarkGreen]Hi, I'm new here. This an interesting site you have here. I am learning to knit and wanted some music for the occasion unfortunately my snail computer is not allowing it or my web pop-ups are at fault. unsure.gif frusty.gif laugh.gif I enjoy reading historical romance though I would like to edit some of those. wink.gif My son & I enjoy celtic festivals and clan barbeques (get togethers not roasting scottish clan members.) laugh.gif I can read Scots gaelic some but feel free to correct the mistakes. unsure.gif I have a Pembroke Corgi that I take to festivals, camping, hiking etc. My mom has mules and donkeys that she rides, drives & shows. I'll have to find a picture of Jane and Cassidy sometime.

Hello and welcome Heather!

I'm very glad that you found us! It's nice to make your acquaintance and I hope that you'll love being part of the Celtic Radio family, even if your poor computer doesn't always seem to cooperate! As long as you've registered with Live365 I think you should be able to play something - I have many computers (too many my wife thinks) and even the little, old IBM 600E ThinkPad from 1998 can play music, albeit not as good as others can that have more power.

Anyway, my point was not to provide technical assistance, but to welcome you and wish you well. Have fun in all of our forums and I look forward to reading your future posts!

Greetings smile.gif

To tune in you will need a log in to Live365. You can get a free sign in there as well. Once you do, you can select the Highlander Radio stream from the drop down list at the top of most of the pages here. That will take you to the Live365 page for whatever broadcast you select. Then when you click play you will get the pop-up shown in Muircheartach's screenshot. Depending on your configuration then, either your media player will load and start playing the music or you will be prompted to download a play.pls file which you can then open in Winamp, vlc, or any number of other such programs to get the broadcast.

Hello and welcome Michelle, we're glad to meet you!

I haven't heard from FIP since her first post, but I'm very happy to see that her original post is getting such good use! biggrin.gif

I'm also glad that you recommended a band that I haven't heard yet - I'll be sure to go to their Web site and give them a listen. I hope that you'll like being here - have fun roaming around, we have lots of forums that have fun and interesting things to do. I look forward to reading your future posts! thumbup.gif
