Saltire 'chosen' as Scottish logo



The Saltire has been a Scottish icon for more than 1,000 years
Reports that £300,000 has been spent on choosing the Saltire as a symbol of Scotland have been dismissed as "silly" by the first minister.
The ancient banner has been picked as a logo to help promote Scotland overseas in a new Scottish Executive drive being launched this week.

Marketing groups hired by the executive concluded that "people regard the Saltire as Scotland's national symbol".

Silly? Silly?

The first minister would fit in with Monty Python's Flying Circus with the minister of silly walks.

He would, indeed.... and most Scots would agree...

Just don't get me started on the fiasco which is the Scottish parliament building - already 2 years over completion date - and still nowhere near finished to judge by the scaffolding etc still all around it.

It seems that government construction projects are the same everywhere. Here we have road widening projects that take forever. By the time the road is built and widened, the new road is too narrow.

Not to mention the famous American Embassy in Moscow, never used because it was built full of bugging devices.

I would like to have the Saltire as my wallpaper at work, but I can't find a good pic that will fit the page. Anyone have a copy?
