Great song. I'm going to have to see if I can pick up the CD sometime. Some compare them to Celtic Thunder, but I think they are a lot more genuine in their music presentation.

Did the Ancestry thing last year but I only started working on the tree about two weeks ago. So far the earliest is on my mom's side to a Giovanni Erspamer in 1735. On my Dad's side there is a Stephen Kelly (married to Joan Rickard) that goes back to 1772 in Cornwall.

I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned here. One Nov 30th 20203 the Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan has died aged 65, following a recent hospital stay after being diagnosed with encephalitis. I watched the funeral (it's on Youtube) and it was an awesome thing to see. His funeral was about 50 minutes longer than Micheal Jackson's so be prepared for a tearfully long sit.

It will be this Labor Day weekend so I'm putting in a plug for it. I'm hoping to make it down there as the musical lineup includes the Steel Bonnets out of Milwaukee. They used to play at our local Ren faire way back in the early 2000's and we became good friends with them. They were the first Scottish type band I heard, and my CDs are long worn out and gone so I'm hoping to pick up some new copies. Lots of other stuff going on too so check out the website. Link is posted below. Alos went to both Irish festivals in Milwaukee and St. Paul this year. The twin cities Irish fest was pretty good and well attended but the bigger acts seem to be on Sunday only. Milwaukee's lineup was okay. It's been better but they had their 40th anniversary last year so I didn't expect a huge lineup this year. Number of Vendors (and most other things) seem to be down this year. I seem to remember a lot more stuff going on in past years. Anyway, here's the link for the Highland Games. https://www.wisconsinscottish.org/

I still prefer CD's. If the internet goes down, I have a ton of music and movies to listen to or watch.

We could do nothing on St. Patrick's Day except dig our self's out of the huge snowstorm that dumped on us all weekend. Not that there would have been much going on here. Our area really doesn't do much in the way of cultural festivals. But the great news is that we are having the Red Hot Chili Pipers perform at our theatre on April 2nd. I did hint a bit about them to the theatre director when we were both performing in the Mary Poppins musical so I would like to think I had something to contribute to their coming to our small town. It will be a fun night. And on a side note, last year I finally broke down and ordered myself a set of bagpipes. Slow learner but I want to do it right.

New Computer doesn't seem to want to play games in the Penny arcade. Do I need some sort of emulator or does the arcade need updating? Currently running Windows 11.

The Christian band Rend Collective have out a Christmas CD called "A Jolly Irish Christmas" and a new single called "Come out Fighting". If you are new to hearing about this band the closest pop music reference would be Mumford and Sons. You can check out their website and music videos here: https://rendcollective.com/

I had to look and found I joined up way back on May 19th, 2006. I've heard lots of great bands and musicians on here. Sadly, my current night shift job doesn't permit me to listen as often as I use too. So, it looks like I'm going to have to find a new job so i can crank the speakers up to 11 again!

Nothing happening in our area but we a;lways have nbeen a spot were cultural events are pretty much non existant.. Listened to some Celtic music on Sirius XM in the car on the way to work and then celtic radio during my lunch period but that was about it. I really need to move to an area that has more stuff going on.

Wasn't exactly a movie but it was still good. I've been watching some of the plays that are being broadcast free on youtube by the National Theatre. One was Frankenstein which was interesting but the opening act seem a bit too long. The other was One Man, Two Guvnors with James Cordon which was extremely funny. Andrew Lloyd weber also release some of his plays for free on YouTube. Joseph and Phantom being my favorites.

Can't wait to try it out. I listen at work on a tablet right now which is connected to a cheap boombox for the sound. Unfortunately, and I don't know if it's because of the tablet, the boombox, or the website the volume is pretty low and I have to turn it up on both the tablet and the boombox to hear it. Almost to full volume. No trouble with the home speakers on my desktop computer. Music off of youtube or other stations seems to be better with the volume. Any suggestions? I don't use the app on my tablet, I just go right to the website and listen form there.

I recently did the DNA test through Ancestry. Some surprises, some not so surprising. I knew I had Cornish, German, and Italian, but the percentages certainly threw me for a loop. BTW, my mom always insisted I was 100% Italian. She's not going to like the results and I'm not going to tell her. biggrin.gif So here is what I got" England, Wales, and Northwestern Europe specifically Devon and Kerrier, Cornwall-50%. France-29%, Germanic Europe-10%, Ireland and Scotland- 5% and Norway, Turkey and the Caucasus, and Italy all at 2%. Which means I'm at 55% Celtic!! So glad I did this but were in the world did the Turkish come from. I still need to do some more digging but working night shift sure prevents that for now.
