As we mentioned a few posts back, we are experimenting with a broadcast programming language called PAL. We have setup some automated scripts which will form the basis of our eventual programming that will tie into our website for listener/member schedules. Thats a long way off, but this is a start.

Here is what we have so far:

Station Promo's at the top of the hour.
Station ID's at the half of the hour.
Top 10 Requests played everyday at Noon EST (#10 - #1).
Request Votes reset weekly (Sunday at midnight).

We are open to anything? What would you like to see? Bagpipe hour? Pub music on Friday nights? Soft music at night? You name it, let us know!

I wouldn't mind some themed programming, like pub music/drinking songs on Friday or Saturday night. Otherwise, I like it best the way it is.

P.S. No "Danny Boy". That song is too darn depressing!

Think you can come up with a program that will play soft music whenever I'm in the mood to write? wink.gif
Seriously.... Give any or all a try. People will let you know what works and what doesn't.... rolleyes.gif
What about 'Artist Spotlights'? Once a week feature for a half an hour or so the music of a new or even established artist. cool.gif Give those of us new to the genre exposure before we buy. Then we don't have to download.....

Can you fix it so I don't have to listen to The Old Dunn Cow any more often than every 3 hours? somebody out there REALLY loves that song!

] These are all great ideas. Elspeth's idea of the "Artist Spotlight" is a good one also. I am just learning some of the groups. When I hear one I like, I write it down.

Elspeth has a good suggestion of a 30 minute spot or so of a featured daily artist. And you could work it in the day before on the main page telling who the next days featured artist will be. Maybe even work in some polls to see if anyone has a specific group they would like to hear from. smile.gif

Well, it sounds like theme programming might be a popular addition to Highlander Radio! For those with us in 2002 we use to have a number of changes in our schedule throughout the day and week. I recall "After Hours" from 11:30 p.m to 6:00 a.m. which played only soft streaming celtic music.

So, I think we will bring this back. Will start working on a line up of weekday and weekly changes to the schedule.

An exciting new addition to our line up will be a nightly childrens half hour. Of course, some adults might appreciate this too as we are obtaining lots of new and hard to fine materials.

Hopefully we can introduce this in a number of weeks.
