Anybody listened to McCain's plans? Personally, I go by the past. Last big banking crisis was when all the S&Ls went belly up. That's when McCain and the Keating Five got caught with their hands in the cookie jar taking bribes...uh contributions from Keating, president of a bad S&L, to delay investigating his company. What? Clean McCain, the corruption fighter taking bribes? Look it up. At the end of the day, he's still a John who's been in bed with graft before.
There is an old bit of wisdom that says bad money drives out good. That's why North Korea has a covert program of counterfeiting billions of dollars and trying to get them into circulation. Enough bad money with no reserves to back will bring down an entire economy. The fiat money that the fed is talking about printing is nothing more than government authorized counterfeit money because there is nothing to back it. If they go through with this, 1929 will look like Christmas.

The govt is only looking for election results. I suspect it is a done deal. They engaged in this briefly earlier this month but not nearly to the extent proposed now.

Right on Patch…Why do we have to live under “so called” capitalism, while Wall Street gets to live under socialism? I think the CEO’s and CFO’s along with Bush and company should pay for the bail out, certainly not us, since they have all the money! Hey here’s a thought…Why don’t we treat them like any other “crook”, and seize their assets and throw them in jail? The Toombs would be nice!

It is capitalism on the way up and socialism on the way down. The bush crooks want NO oversight or added protections on the bail out plan! (easier to steal that way!) If I have to suffer because of taxes and runaway inflation, I want my fellow citizens to be helped, not crooked politicians and management teams. CEO's should be severely restricted in renumeration if that take advantage of the bail out. When I found belatedly that $3,000.00 could leverage the purchase of $90,000.00 in stock I knew we were (are) doomed. That practice was curtailed after the crash of "29" and relaxed at some point in the last 7 years. With "short selling" of financial stock now prohibited, billions (maybe more) will be lost in the market in months to come. At least the investment banks are gone now.
Oil is up $15.00 a barrel and the Dow is down approaching $400.00
Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley had the waiting period waived for the conversion to a conventional bank institution. WHY???
FBI is conducting a fraud investigation involving Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Lehman Bros and AIG among others. They announced that there were 26 active investigations but refused to name others. Maybe the American people truly will get "justice."

Hi Patch; If the investigation were an independent investigation, then justice might be possible, because I’m sure that it would lead to the welcome mat at the white house door. Until then I can't believe anything they say. JC
Catching up after my vacation. I'm reading your posts and feeling the butterflies that I felt a couple of years ago when the Enron collapse occurred. Values and greed...yep, they're the key ingredients to any system working or shanking us. I heard on CNN yesterday that employees murdered their CEO...I didn't catch the company. I believe it was in India.
I was astonished w/myself because I kind of chuckled...thinking "hmm, wonder if that would scare them into behaving more responsibly?" I know this is wrong to think but I have to admit it crossed my mind.

Some one (you) should write a book entitled "The Rise and Fall of the American Empire or The Decline and Fall of the American Empire". You have two good reference points to use: Edward Gibbon and Albert Speer.

If this is bad enough, they may have a "real" investigation. We should all watch this closely.

JC;
It's easy:
Chapter one - It Rose
Chapter two - It Declined
Chapter three - It Fell
Chapter Four - THE END.

Thanks for the laugh Dave… Why I think it’s got best seller written all over it. JC
