Anyone here like to play PC games on your home computer? I am not talking of online games, just the ones you buy at Best Buy, take home and pray will install correctly laugh.gif

This Christmas we bought our youngest son Call of Duty 2. It is a first-person WWII game. Wow, is it ever intense! I usually don't play too many PC games (the missus gets pretty pissed when I play and she thinks I should be doing something else).
But I have found myself playing this alot. You can play either as an American, British or Soviet soldier. The common theme is fighting Germans. Either in Russia, North Africa or Europe.
I've really been enjoying it.

I've had a lot of good games over the last few years. But my favorites are (not necessarily in order):

Civilization III and IV
Asheron's Call
Starcraft
Warcraft (in all its incarnations)
Counterstrike

I used to play a whole lot of other ones...my husband and I are gaming junkies. But those are by far the *favorites*.

I've not done much gaming since I got into the PC world. I used to play a lot of games on the old C=64 though smile.gif

On PC, my main game for now is Pirates! 2004. I also can't get enough of Starcraft and kin. I'd kinda like to get a copy of Doom3, but I'm in no hurry for it. I used to play Railroad Tycoon a lot smile.gif

Micro$oft's Combat Flight Simulator; the first one, flying a Supermarine Spitfire in the Battle of Britain.
Yes; there are far more creative things to do with my time; it is addictive, and a colossal time-waster, so it's not been installed on my computer for a couple of years now.

Padriag call of duty2 is good, but if you like that game
Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood will absolutly blow you out of the water. I like the Civilization series but got Brothers in arms for my roomate for Christmas he loves all those games. It is so realistic that the History channel has a TV show based on the videogame and the people that actually fought these battles helped make the game.
I am trying not to get addicted but it is hard )).

"Diablo II: Lord of Destruction" and all of the "MechWarrior" games are permanently installed on my PC.

I need a really good single-person (non-online) RPG, something in the medieval/fantasy realm.

I'm not much of a PC gamer. I don't have a lot of games, and most of them are for Mac. I have a PC now, and the only game I have for that is the You Don't Know Jack! trivia game.

JPadraig, it's good to see you again!

Hubby enjoys Civilization 1-4 (just got 4 for Christmas), Pirates, Quake 4, Age of Empires 3, and used to play Tribes and Halo, though doesn't now. He's really been favoring the Civilization series more than anything else. Loves 4!

Our girls are into Warcraft, Civilization 1-3 (haven't had a chance with 4 yet rolleyes.gif ), ZooTycoon 1 & 2, Quake (which I hate to see them on!!), StarWars Battlefront 2, Halo and Tribes.

I don't really play games, except rarely, and the ones I will play are more puzzle-solving varieties (Beyond Atlantis). Long ago, many many moons ago, (pre-kids) hubby tried to introduce me to PCgaming by way of SimCity. I did like it, found it intriguing to handle all those aspects, etc....a bit too well, though. He got me started just before noon. Shortly afterwards he came down to see how things were progressing, and asked what I was thinking of for dinner that night. I shrugged, kept playing. It was when he came down to tell me good-night (just a little while later, it seemed!) that I was stunned/shocked/ashamed to find out I'd spent ALL DAY playing that game!! sad.gif jawdrop.gif Haven't touched it since. (Hubby was greatly amused, btw).

Dreamer1 - that is funny. I, too have spent many hours playing a game, only to get my ears boxed by my wife, who is not amused by an adult playing computer games so much!
I have a friend that regularly crawls into bed at 3:00 or 4:00 in the a.m., from playing his games!

I have played Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon with much amusement. However, there is only one game I play these days. Since 2004 I have played Tiger Woods PGA Tour. I play online but it is an installed PC game that can be played offline. There are several ways to compete with other players. I play on a game ladder which is a website specifically designed to track member's games. Also, I manage a small club on the game server. My back injury is the only thing that allows me enough time to waste on such a fruitless endeavor. smile.gif

The peculiar evil of silencing the expression of an opinion is, that it is robbing the human race; posterity as well as the existing generation; those who dissent from the opinion, still more than those who hold it. If the opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth: if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error. ~John Stuart Mill, On Liberty, 1859

J Padraig,

I think your friend may be playing a bit too much! rolleyes.gif My hubby spends most of his free time playing games, but I don't mind because he enjoys it so much. Besides, it helps to keep your mind active (like other puzzles do) and it's helped our girls learn to develop strategy, understand logistics, accept more responsibility, and to be more alert in general....all good things! (Maybe you could run those by your wife, and point out that it's healthy for us grown-ups, too!) laugh.gif I think it keeps us young at heart, and what's wrong with that?

cheers.gif
