I realise that. I'm saying that Wiccan is not really that old of a religion, and is a Pagan religion. I'm wondering if you asociate more with the anchient pagan religions, or the modern (Wicca)?

Wicca is an older religion than most people think. Yes it is a newer version, but most still follow the old ways. Its a new name for an old face biggrin.gif

Then why wouldn't you claim to be a Pagan Healer, rather than a Wiccan? It's more accurate, is it not?

Yes and no. Not all pagans are wiccans. I call myself a Wiccan healer to be more accurate(I think thats the word I'm looking for)

There is never such a thing as a dumb question only dumb question is the one never asked and therefore never answered.

And believe it or not this is a good question I am a moderator out here and not sure how this is done other then Paul (our all mighty leader) changing it behind the scenes. Thought there might be an option in the members controlpanel but I did not see it so I guess the answerr to your question would be Paul AKA Macfive.

thank you!!

Here are some I have just thought of:

Buckland's Complete book of Witchcraft - Raymond buckland

Wicca, a Guide for the Solitary Practitioner - Scott Cunningham (kind of fluffy at times, but still a good read)

Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs - Scott Cunningham

Buffalo Woman Comes Singing - Brooke Medicine Eagle (some fluff in here, but has some great exercises)

Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu

to add to your list a bit here are some of my favs.

Living Wicca: A further Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham
The Wicca Spellbook by Gerina Dunwich
Book of Shadows by Phyllis Curott (this book follows her journey from finding out about wicca to becominga witch it is my fav!)

I would love to add my 2 cents if I may. I am a Wicca/Pagan how ever you want to refer to me, and my husband is an agnostic. Nobody likes being told that they're beliefs are wrong nor do they like having someone elses beliefs pushed onto them. If I'm not mistaken pagans are supposed to be the most tolerant, so can we please have a tolerant forum?

I have been keeping track of this myself.

My 10th Greatgrandmother was Susanna North Martin. She was one of the women that was hung.

She was married to George Martin and the Daughter of Richard North and Joan Bartram, from England.

She was also the last of the people that was hung to be reprieved and that didn't happen until around the year 2000.

One of these day I would like to go there and see here marker.

A fellow witch and I plan to take a trip there. We just moved to PA. I'm not sure when we're going, but if you'd like I'll look for your Greatgrandmother's marker and take some pics for you

I've been out of the broom closet for almost 2 yrs. Well to everyone but my grandmother, shes old and I don't want to give her another heart attack. My mother took it a lot better than I thought she would. She is usually very judgemental, but all she said is, "if it makes you happy and your not hurting anyone then have fun, just don't say anything to your brother and sister (they're only 14 & 11) I promised her I wouldn't till they get older and only if they asked.
My dad (who is soooo much cooler than my mom) saw the pentical I wear and said " I didn't know your turned jewish!" laugh.gif I laughed and explained what it was. He said as long as I was happy it didn't bother him.
My husband is agnostic (he believes in a higher power, but he's not sure what power that is), when people ask him if he's a wiccan he says "no I just hold stock in it" (he provides all the funds for my work) biggrin.gif

And I am in accord with the statement that modern Wiccan beliefs are a modern look at a much older religion..as it appears there is very little if any historical documentation that has survived concerning practices of the Earth religions.if we discount oral tradition, that is.

RON

Some would tend to disagree with you not to say that you are wrong though. I am a solitary witch that practices healing. Many of my rituals and beliefs are very much in accordance with the "old ways" and I have done all of my studies from books both new and old.

That is very true Bardass!!!
A good example is the pesicusion and killing of "witches" in Salem and England in the 16th century!

unfortunately we are still be persecuted today. There are actually modern day "witch hunters" they actually kill people who claim to be witches. They are called the Triads.
unfortunately some witches can be evil. Then again there are some like myself who are healers.

At it's core, and through my studies I see Samhain as the original Pagan holiday. The night when the veil between this world and the next is thinnest.

Being a celtic wiccan I am inclined to agree. Samhain (pronounced so-wen) is one of my favorite sabbats. As a matter of fact we just finished our feast and I'm preparing to perform my rituals at midnight
