I was just wonder how many of you are affected by the drought here in the South East. Hay is in short supply here and it is expensive.

I'm in the Southwest Ohio area and I know farmers here and in Indiana were only able to get two cuttings off of fields this year. Normally able to get 3 cuttings. Some are having to buy extra hay for the winter season.

Same here. If they got more than one it is poor quality. I know of some farmers the have sold off their cattle because they are not going to be able to feed them this winter. I also know that hay is being sold and paid for before it is cut.

I've got some friends who are wondering if they're going to be able to feed their cattle. I'm just glad I don't have the concern myself. I hope the best for all those who do, and may next year give better yields.

How sad, and how frustrating. I'd be heartsick to have to get rid of livestock that takes so much work, for a reason like that. Wish you all with your big four-footed friends the means to get through the winter, and a long, soft, rainy late winter and early spring.
