sad.gif Does anyone know why there is no dedicated Celtic music channel on SiriusXM?
In all of their vast postings purporting to ask what I'd like to hear, I've found no way to express to them this serious (Sirius) lack of programming.
That said (or asked), I certainly want to express my gratitude to Celtic Radio for filling that void!
I would also like to call attention to Greg Latta, Frostburg State University, Frostburg, MD, who has for many years carried the torch, and provided for his listeners on WFWM Public Radio a source of Celtlic music every Saturday afternoon at 4:00, as well as many live music venues for Celtic performers. A consummate musician in his own right, he has provided a venue for live performances for many well-and-not-so-well-known artists.
Unfortunately, WFWM (this requires special training for announcers to pronounce) cannot support streaming of their programming because of "reporting requirements".
All positive comments welcomed.

Hi Lexington and welcome to Celtic Radio! We are always glad to have new folks come on board with us. As you have probably already seen and heard, this is a great place for all things Celtic!

Sirius has never had a dedicated Celtic channel to my knowledge. Even though we all love good Celtic music here, it still is considered a "niche" genre by many. The stations that Paul has set up here are available online, on smart phones, and so forth. I know that Sirius has a weekend program of about two hours that is hosted by Larry Kirwan who was once the front-man for the Irish Rock band Black 47.

Hope you can get your Celtic fix here on this good site! Have a great day and welcome aboard!

Thanks for the reply. I've been listening to Celtic Moon for a number of years now
I also get Celtic from Pandora, but their playlists tend to be a bit repetitive.

Keep up the good work at CR, and I'll post more later...

I have SirusXM in my car and the only thing Celtic on there is the Celtic Crush program. It's hosted by Larry Kirwin, the lead singer/songwriter of Black 47. It comes on twice a week on the Loft station (channel 30). One of the time slots is Sunday morning at 9 am central time. I'm not sure when the other time slot is but it's never been at good times. Larry does a pretty good job but you wonder if the program is nothing more than a chance for Larry to play Van Morrison songs. He does play everything from traditional to contemporary Celtic music but there are days when I wonder who decides the playlist because some of the songs played are definitely not even close to being Celtic. Nevertheless, its the only thing you'll find other than the Spa station playing Enya or Loreena McKennett from time to time. Stick with CR. All the rest disappoint.

Why thank you so much for the compliments! We do have a very thoughtful process for creating our playlists. It seems to work, although at times it might need a bit tweaking here and there.

Right now the best way to listen in the car and if you have an apple or android car play device is the TuneIn.com app. It works with those systems. You can find Highlander Radio on there just do a search.

We have a version of Celtic Moon and Celtic Dance Tavern on TuneIn.com, but right now those channels are down but should be back up in a few days.

I am able to get the Celtic Radio Network App to work in the car, especially if there is an option to play music from your iPhone or Android. Nothing like jamming to some bagpipes on the way to work - you might get a few looks! thumbs_up.gif smile.gif
