Breaking News: Castle Burns Kathy McGee WTVQ Channel 36 May 11, 00:00 AM EDT
A Woodford County landmark burned Monday night as hundreds of residents watched in disbelief. The castle, built thirty years ago was heavily damaged. Flames filled the night sky as the castle burned for hours.
The property, located on Versailles Road, was built by real-estate developer Rex Martin. He built it for his first wife Caroline. The Martins, never lived in the castle; they divorced in 1975 before it was finished. Martin died last August and the castle was then sold to Miami, Florida real-estate investor Thomas R. Post.
I don't know, at this point, how much of it survived.
There's a castle south of Nashville, near Triune, where the TN Renaissance Festival is held. During the festival they gave tours of the castle (at least in years past). Although it wasn't finished when I toured it, it was wonderful to see.

I'm going to that castle outside of Nashville this year. To the Ren Fest actually.
It is sad when a castle goes down. I loved driving by the one in Lexington, KY. It was a camelot style and it always amazed me that no one had bought it.

Sadly, that's the one that burned. The parimeter wall still stands, and the form of the home that was within it, but the structure was thoroughly gutted :'(
Leave it to the people of KY to build a castle that would burn too the ground. Maybe mix in a smoke detector next time. Sorry for the loss but it didn't need to happen. Did they spend all the money on the plastic dragons?

Doubt anyone would have known any faster of a smoke alarm went off. I'm guessing some likely did. If a tree falls in the forest, and noone is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
I doubt anyone was in or near the castle when the fire started. Lightening is suspected as the cause.
