"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We confess that.
We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it Pluralism.
We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism.
We have endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyle.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. in the name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen"
Dear Lord, lest I continue in my complacent ways, help me to remember that someone died for me today. And if there be war, help me to remember to ask and to answer "am I worth dying for?" - Eleanor Roosevelt
The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools. -- Herbert Spencer, English Philosopher (1820-1903)
I loved all of these prayers and am a user of a lot of them. My favorite prayer is what the Blessed Virgin Mary said when she was asked to be the mother of Jesus. It simply says, do with me as you see fit, I trust in your goodness and love. We should all be so blind in our trust and faith in God. The name of the prayer is the Magnificat.
It's found in Luke 1, chapter 46. (Gee, I never quoted the bible before, but I want you to know that this is in scripture. A very short version is:
My sould magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior., for he has looked with favor on the lowliest of his servants. Surely from now on, all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me and holy is his name......
It goes on, but in the quietest times, it can humble you. It's my favorite.
Well my prayer life isn't very good, but when I do pray I normally pray the Rosary. And sing a couple of songs that I like (praise and worship songs)

There's a dear little plant that grows in our Isle Twas St . Patrick himself, sure, that set it; And the sun of his labour with pleasure did smile, And with dew from his eye often wet it. It grows through the bog, through the brake, through the Mireland, and they call it the dear little shamrock of Ireland.
