I say yes and regulate it. IUt's as bad as Alcohol yet they already tried outlawing that and it didn't work. But if some person wants to go home and smoke their brain dead why is it then the government can control something their doing in the privacy of their own home? Now if they go out treat it just as they would an alcohol issue. Obviously their both just as dangerous yet ones allowed and the other isn't and the drug issue is overloading our jails with 1st time offenders and taking up space for the real criminals. sad.gif

I do not have a problem with the Legalization of Marijuana.

Even though I have never used it (Honestly). I do not see what the difference of the effect in either Marijuana or Alcohol.

An Adult should be able to judge for themselves and responsible enough to know how to handle it. Again this falls into, I do not like others telling what I can or can not do. The choice should be mine.

I also feel that minors should not be allowed it's use as in Tobacco and Alcohol, because most of them are unable to make a qualified choice. If you noticed I said most not all. I even know some Adults that fit into this category.

I agree with both of you. I think it was put on the planet for a reason, and it has too many positive uses to completely illegalize.

Most of the people "policing it" are using it themselves. It's pretty well known around here that the cops have the best weed.

If memory still serves me correctly. Marijuana used to legal in the United States and was made illegal during the time of Prohibition. It doesn't change the fact that the Puritan state of mind still exists here. However what they think and what the do are two different things.

For example: In the township where I live, it is a dry Township. Even though most of the people that live here consume alcohol, they just don't want others to know it. (Closet Drinkers).

My Father taught me that everything has a purpose and has a cure. I still hold onto that today.

Everything in creation has a purpose, it is when that purpose is misused that trouble begins.
The Creator put the herbs of the field as well as the beast of the woods here for our use, it is how we use them that becomes the question...

Marijuana is not bad! It has aquired this reputation due to the criminality that has become associated with it's use.

I am a child of the '60s and will say openly that I have used "pot"!

I am now in my 50's and no longer partake because I could lose everything I own if caught!
As with everything in our lives moderation and understanding are a must... what gives anyone person or group of people the right to determine what is good for others?

Every soul on this planet has the right to make choices for themselves, so why do others feel they have the right to interfer?

Govern yourself and not others!

That's why I personally have problems with religion. To many in my opinion want to push their religious views and beliefs onto others instead of letting them chose for themselves.

You will not draw me into a religious discussion here, I believe that everyone has the right to make discissions based on their beliefs and "NO ONE" has the right to determine if they are right or wrong except the god/gods of their beliefs.

Government is a man made thing and has no rights in the realm of spiritulism!

Nor does it have any rights in personal choice...!!!!

Looks this isn't a very controversial subject with this group. Everybody seems to think pretty much as I do. It seems that policing marijuana use is just one more example of our government using an outdated sense of morality to conduct business. Logically one would think that legalizing and taxing pot would be the only choice to make. We wouldn't be wasting money trying to enforce unenforcible laws and we be creating legitimate jobs and putting money into the coffers and it wouldn't cost me a penny only those that use. Now the user pays and so do I. thumbs_up.gif

I would be in favor of legalizing marijuana if it is modeled after liquor. Make it an age-restricted purchase, and it can only be purchased at licensed establishments.

Also, I think legalization would act as a deterrent by removing the taboo. Some people live their lives by the motto "if it's legal, it's not fun".

Getting back to marijuana...
I voted no. I do not agree with the argument that just because alcohol is legal then mairjuana should be too. This is based on the premise that everyone is responsible. If you want to smoke and drink in your house, fine, I have no problem with it. But, when many others are drinking and driving, or getting high and driving, then it affects everyone.

That's fine but you have to admit the current drug enforcement is a joke to say the least as it is not getting the proper job done. Instead of taking off the street those that sell they take off the street those that buy. There are a lot more buyers out there then sellers. sad.gif

I mean personally I have never used the stuff and never would but tired of seeing tax money get wasted on inefective programs. sad.gif sad.gif
