The impact of Crohn's, Colitis and IBS disease can have a devastating effect on your work, family, and social life. These disorders are a life long condition and there is currently no cure.
  • It's estimated that 25% of people with Crohn's disease are not fully capable of work in the first year after diagnosis.
  • About 15% of people with Crohn's disease are unable to work after having Crohn's disease for 5 to 10 years.
  • Within 10 years of being diagnosed, about half of all people with Crohn's disease will need surgery to treat disease that has not responded adequately to treatment or complications of the disease. Remember, surgery is not a cure for Crohn's disease.
These effects on your life can put a strain on your physical and emotional health and result in anger, sadness and reduced life expectancy.

The prevalence of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis is highest in North America, Northern Europe and the United Kingdom, with the average number of cases ranging from 100 to 200 cases per 100,000 persons.

Celtic Radio is about the music of our ancestors with a focus on the countries of North America, Northern Europe, the United Kingdom and Ireland. We are wondering if this would be a good cause for Celtic Radio to help educate the general public and bring awareness of this disease and on the effects to the many people of our shared common backgrounds.

We are thinking on have a number of web links in our footer that go back to a fund raising page on the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation located here:

http://www.ccfa.org/

We also might create some radio public service announcements by working with members in our community in order to raise awareness and directly providing a percentage of our future fund raising drives in order to find a cure through CCFA.

Well, tell us what you think about this idea and if you believe this might be a good way for Celtic Radio to make a positive influence on fighting for a cure of this deliberating disease.
