Well, thought I would share this with everyone.

Up until now I have been able to trace my roots back to 1770 when Hugh MacArthur made the trip from Scotland to PEI on the ship Annabella. He thought he was going to North Carolina, but the shipwrecked in a storm off PEI.

What I have not been able to trace was prior to this. What part of Scotland did he come from, was he even a MacArthur or did he just take this surname from someone else.

Well, I have received information to show that he was from the Loch Awe area of Argyll which places him directly in the the Clan MacArthur territory!

A tidbit of information, but atleast I will know where to look when I go to Scotland!

Sounds like to me you just hit the jackpot, Macfive.  I would be so thrilled to find out exactly where my Irish ancestors came from. Maybe one day the mystery will be solved.

Well, I wish I could claim that I found this information out myself!

What I did find, and this might be a good place for other people to look, was a special mail-list group for MacArthur geneology. It works with your email and when you write a message it goes to everyone on the list.

So I was able to find alot of knowledgable geneologist that are researching my name, so I am very lucky.
