I introduce this CD to a dj from Hong Kong
hope she'll like it, then the song will be hot in there

Right now, The Trial of Lancelot is one of my favorite songs! I could listen to it many many times daily and more! biggrin.gif

"Mordread's Lullaby" has got to be the darkest song I've ever heard, and I can't get enough of it.

The song is an obsidian shard in the air

Black
Sharp
smooth
beautiful
dangerous

Love it!

Hi All,
This is my first post on the forum. I absolutely love this song. If it were possible to request it more often than it is played I would. I am planning on getting her album. note.gif thumbs_up.gif walkman.gif

I love her album of Lancelot! I play it all of the time. I'd like to get her new album.

May Queen is deinately worth it, Call the Names isn't as good as The Trial of Lancelot and May Queen, but still quite enjoiable.

Posted by: balisodare 26-Feb-2004, 06:34 PM
I've never heard of this group/this song before.
It sounds rather interesting.
Can anyone explain things to a Heather Dale newbie?

Cheers

We should be receiving some CD's from Heather soon to giveway. Just a thought, but what would everyone think of maybe a 1/2 chat with her sometime this spring? If we could get 10-20 people to commit to a chat, I will ask her if it is something she would like to do.

Posted by: mingkee 01-Mar-2004, 09:55 PM
I'm gonna get May Queen and Lancelot
they sound cool, I can't help to buy'em
these'll be 2nd and 3rd after Lord of the Dance

Posted by: Aaediwen 03-Mar-2004, 05:44 PM
I've already commented to her in an E-mail to hop into the chat sometime =) It stays kindof quiet a lot of the time though in there, so even if she did hop in, she might miss us like that. scheduling a time might be good though =)

Posted by: mingkee 03-Mar-2004, 07:25 PM
ask her when to come in
perhaps I'll buy another 2, and send'em to my favorite dj in Hong Kong
becoz I'd like to bring her to Hong Kong

Mordred's Lullaby is just like good old Enya's "The Celts"
(whole album) thumbs_up.gif

Posted by: Aaediwen 04-Mar-2004, 07:10 PM
I'll listen to both again and get back with you. Enya is generally nowhere near as dark and sinister as "Mordread's Lullaby"

Well, I am happy to announce that we have received 3 brand new CD's from Heather Dale for our upcoming monthly CD giveways!

All 3 CD albums are her latest - May Queen - and all 3 CD's are personally autographed on the back cover.

I am going to try and work on the CD giveway module as soon as possible, although I am very undecided on how to give these CD's away. I'll have more details very soon!

Posted by: maggiemahone1 06-Mar-2004, 04:06 PM
Sounds like a winner, MacFive. I'll be waiting patiently to know details.

Does anyone here have connections with Heather through SCA?

My SCA persona back many years ago was Geoffrey Genour of Carney. I have not been active for many years. It is fantastic to have a SCA musician get the press that she has.

I love both the Lancelot and May Queen CDs and would be most happy to win one.

Posted by: groovyfishguy 17-Mar-2004, 06:17 PM
I agree wholeheartedly Shes Awesome hope to convince some friends I know of getting her at a festival in California someday thumbs_up.gif

Posted by: ChuckDenton 20-Mar-2004, 04:26 PM
I agree that she is absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to hear her in concert soon. I also love Clann An Drumma too. What a concert that would be! Are any of you familiar with The Elders? They are a local to Kansas City Band, and they are awesome too!

I love Heathers music, I only wish that I could still listen while at work sad.gif

Posted by: Head 08-Apr-2004, 04:45 PM
somebody should get Heather to play at Pennsic War (SCA) this year!!!
that would be really, really cool........

Posted by: nehalenni 08-Apr-2004, 09:14 PM
I just recently recieved Heather's new cd, May Queen (thank you Mcfive!) and I just love it! I can't bear to be without it ever! I drive a lot for my job so I purchased a Walkman Mini Disk player and transfered it to a disk along with other favorites and listen to them when I can't be by the computer! I only wish I could download all of Highlander Radio to my Walkman!

I would love to pick up a Heather Dale CD, but am having a tough time finding it. Any more thought to have a web event with her? It would be worth while!

Happy Easter!

It's a good quality CD and I'm very pleased. Her voice is excellent and the music is great!

Love it, love it, love it! "Mordred's Lullabye" is quickly becoming an all time favorite of mine. And it is really dark, but that doesn't stop you from liking it!

Posted by: faolin 12-Jul-2004, 05:58 PM
Like lemonflower I just bought a copy of The Trial of Lancelot, my first CD ever to be purchased after listening to it on celtic radio. I just love Mordred's Lullabye, and I think that I am going to have to buy May Queen soon!

Posted by: Macfive 13-Jul-2004, 09:36 PM
The other feature I like about her CDs is the nicely designed insert with lyrics, pictures other information. I for one really appreciate a nicely designed insert/booklet. I think it adds alot to a CD that you enjoy.

Posted by: VetteGal 26-Jul-2004, 09:37 PM
I have both The Trial of Lancelot and May Queen and I listen to them whenever I am not listening to Celtic Radio. I purchased them from her website, and the great thing about doing that is that it gives you the option of having them signed by Heather Dale! Keep up the good work Heather!

Posted by: Aaediwen 26-Jul-2004, 11:30 PM
She will been over backwards to sign it too! I sent an E-mail marked URGENT right after my last order and she caught the package as it headed out the door, and opened it to make sure it got signed for me. Something I like about the srtists on Highlander Radio. You can get in touch with them and get to know them personally. Can't do that with the more commercial artists.

Posted by: mingkee 29-Jul-2004, 06:38 PM
hey
I just received her CDs
I CAN'T wait to listen

Posted by: mingkee 29-Jul-2004, 07:30 PM
I listened her songs many times here
and I have had an intention to buy the CD
finally...I ordered 2 (May Queen and Trial of Lancelot)
both don't disappoint me
a mix of contemporary Celtic and Jazz/Blue
this is good
and I feel she sings with her heart

Posted by: greenldydragon 23-Oct-2004, 01:30 PM
Her c.ds are wonderful and I can't wait til May Queen gets here. (Just recently ordered it) The Lyrics are beautiful and make you feel more like she is telling a story that she saw, rather than singing about something that a long time ago.

This is so funny. I have a friend named Heather Dale. (No, not the same person) but isn't that odd? I have never heard her music, but I'm going to have to look into this one. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Macfive 14-Nov-2004, 10:09 PM
I'd like to thank Aaediwen for posting the cool pictures of Heather Dale in the member photo gallery!!!

I take it these are from a recent concert. Very nice!

Posted by: Aaediwen 14-Nov-2004, 10:58 PM
Those pics were taken on the weekend of 10/29 and 10/31, at the Ohio Valley Filk Festival at the Clarion Dublin in Dublin, OH. I've got some more I need to finish going through. Including one taken when I asked Heather to help me get one for my profile here. She jumped into the picture smile.gif I was thinking of just getting a good one of myself to use, and maybe get one with her too to have, but use one of just me for the profile. But the way things turned out, who am I to argue?

Posted by: Truthsinger 25-Mar-2005, 01:57 PM
Hi there,

I'm new here and not sure if anyone still checks this thread, but I wanted to let you know that Heather Dale has a new CD "The Road to Santiago" coming out. Sound clips are up on her website and she is taking pre-sales to help her finish the manufacturing.

I think the CD is going to be amazing. It sounds like 'Adrift' just might replace 'Mordred's' as my new favourite song.

Posted by: Aaediwen 19-May-2005, 04:28 PM
I've been listening to Road to Santiago the last couple days (Recieved mine on Tuesday). I honestly believe Heather is trying to outdo herself biggrin.gif Man! This CD kicks censored.gif !!

It's got more of a Rock feel to it than her other CDs, it will pull you in and

IT

NEVER

LET'S

GO!

Loaded with top notch insturmentation, plenty of that nice vocal layering effect she does so very well, Songs with attitude, message, and meaning. Ask Haldur... we both heard it first time at the same time, abd both had earworms of it the rest of the day. And I hadn't even listened to it in depth yet. I still haven't given it a good deep listen, and I hope to compose a more complete review once I do. However, that will probably have to wait until I get my new DVD player this weekend...

If you tend to be more interested in Folk Rock, than in the more traditional styles, then this CD might be a better inro for you than Heather's earlier works. As I told Haldur, I knew it would be good when I heard a couple of the songs live at OVFF, but I didn't quite expect THIS! biggrin.gif WOW!

The latest news from Heather Dale:

Hi everyone -- I'm back from Europe & the UK!

Highlights from the tour included:
- getting a standing ovation at the Canterbury Festival (England),
- performing in a castle courtyard as part of the Pembroke Festival (Wales),
- busking for the pilgrims in Santiago de Compostela (Spain),
- catching a first glimpse of Glastonbury Tor at sunset (England),
- soaking in Budapest's natural mineral baths (Hungary),
- ambling past a live artillery range on Southend beach (England),
- visiting with my fifth cousins in a rural fishing village (Cornwall),
- belting out Stan Rogers favourites with the Oxford Folk Club (England),
- catching a Shakespeare production at the rebuilt Globe Theatre in London (England),
- and successfully navigating several hundred traffic roundabouts (no mean feat... wink.gif.

I've put up some tour pictures at www.HeatherDale.com, under "Shows" -- enjoy!

What a fantastic tour... the people we met were just stellar and really seemed to enjoy our particular brand of musical Canadiana. The UK folk scene in particular was a treat; we're already booking a more intensive tour there for next summer/fall.

For two months, my partner Ben Deschamps and I travelled around the UK in a tiny rental car, covering 6100 km between Wales, Lancashire, Kent and Cornwall. We also hopped across to the Continent for a few days in Hungary and northern Spain. Airline luggage limits meant we had to leave the double bass & piano at home... but we worked out some groovy new arrangements for guitar, mountain dulcimer, tin whistles & Irish flutes, bodhran drum and other percussion.

We're off on a new Christmas tour in Ontario -- hope you can join us! And don't forget the Heather Dale Store for your holiday shopping... thank you for choosing to support independent music this season.

Happy holidays,
Heather.

I'll confess I'd never heard of Heather Dale before today, but a close friend of mine is an especially huge fan of hers. When she learned Heather was playing in our town today and tomorrow, she persuaded a few of us to come on short notice and listen to her perform. It took all of one song to get me hooked.

Heather has an amazing performance style; she's completely in tune with her music, her whole body moving in time with what she plays and sings. Her voice is amazingly pure; it's incredibly strong and clear, and it completely took over the bookstore where she was performing!

Her brief introductions to each song further enriched the meaning of each piece (not being an Arthurian buff myself, I was especially grateful for the added background to the legends!) and her love for what she does and the songs she's written couldn't have come across more plainly. She gave us songs from each of her CDs, and I especially fell in love with Bow to the Crown, May Queen and As I Am; all three are perfect showcases for her style and that amazing, melodic voice.

I HIGHLY recommend Heather's music to anybody with a love for very fluting, enchanting Celtic melodies and/or Arthurian and Medieval folklore. You won't be disappointed!

Those that know me will know this is coming, but I find the woman to be a TOTAL waste of air time. I cannot abide the sound of her voice and do not like ANYTHING I have heard her do.

Just my $0.02

Here's hoping she has the opportunity to perform in the Midwestern United States someday!

Hi everyone:

As promised, here's one of two email updates for you -- my brand new CD "The Hidden Path" has arrived!

It's a 14-song collection of live foot-stompers, rare studio recordings, and other tasty tidbits; have a listen to sound clips at www.HeatherDale.com/THP. The CD can now be securely ordered online at The Heather Dale Store. I hope you'll consider sharing my music with your loved ones this holiday season; I'm genuinely honoured that you choose to support my work.

A couple of other quick things:

Have an idea for a fabulous Christmas concert in Ontario? We're interested! Ben and I would be happy to come and perform at your local church, community hall, restaurant, nursing home, house concert (ie. fun private concert in your own living room, for you and 15 or more friends), or other venue. Please contact Ben at [email protected], with any Ontario-specific ideas!
"The Legends of Arthur" songbook is in the final manufacturing stage, and should be released in a week or so.

Firm plans are finally afoot to resurrect The Amphisbaena Project -- an online community of historically-inspired recording artists. We will again be distributing rare indie CDs by Conn MacNeill, Morgana bro Morganwg, and many others. We may not have Amphisbaena running in its new form in time for Christmas, but we're are actively working to make these recordings available again early in the new year. Bear with us!

We've added a Sudbury date to our current northern Ontario tour: SUN Nov 26 at 7:00pm. Church Of The Epiphany (85 Larch Street, Sudbury, ON, 705-675-2279). Tickets $10, available at church office during regular business hours, or contact Patricia Park at (705) 524-0424 to reserve. Visit www.HeatherDale.com/shows for up-to-the-minute concert additions (psst... we have more Toronto dates in the works).

I'm off to northern Ontario and Manitoba...

Cheers,
Heather.

I requested a song of her's for "Song Of The Year 2006"

Posted by: Peder Piper 21-Sep-2010, 06:26 AM
always strikes a refreshing newness even after multiple plays. She has a clear clean voice that lifts the songs she sings to a higher sky and brings backs dreams and legends to a contemporary experience. She reminds us in song of the greatness the human spirit can achieve. She is a deep breath of fresh air.
