Was there a bit of a dance-ish beat in the background? This sounds a little like a track from Shooglenifty, from their album "Troots," but I can't recall the name of the track... It's one of the early ones on the album, I think.

Best of luck to you in your search!

We have a local Irish shop (Paddy's on the Square) that stocks Celtic music cds, and the majority of their stock is older albums -- I know I've seen Seven Nations (picked up a few of their older cds on clearance) and the Glengarry Bhoys there. Perhaps try an Irish specialty shop?

Just won Owen Diviney -- I was previously unfamiliar with his music, but I just had a little listen, and I'm very excited! Thanks so much!

The melody is definitely Good Christian Men, Rejoice/In Dulci Jubilo -- we sang it in choir last year. Not sure who the artist is, though, sorry sad.gif

My thoughts and prayers are with those in the area who won't leave, or for some reason *can't* leave, as well as those who do leave their homes in search of safer ground. May you all stay safe and find peace again as you rebuild your lives after this disaster.

Anticipation of the Games has gotten me through a difficult week. Looking forward to the Massed Bands on Saturday -- they took my breath away last year! It'll also be a treat to see Atlantic Wave again, and I confess, the battle-axe throwing was a great stress reliever **chuckle**

The Wisconsin Highland Games will live long and happily in my memory for one more thing: the best, biggest, and most delicious bag of kettle corn I have ever tasted biggrin.gif

There's a full schedule available in pdf form here:

I first had haggis in a cozy pub in Edinburgh. With the spices and all, I really liked it! Of course, I haven't been brave enough yet to try the canned variety...

Welcome, Dvdan! I also live in Milwaukee, and I'm practically counting down the days til Irish Fest biggrin.gif I'm looking forward to seeing all the bands you've mentioned, as well as the Fuschia Band.

The next few weeks will pass so slowly... but in the meantime, there's an Arab World Fest in the same location to keep me distracted **chuckle**

Anywho, welcome to Celtic Radio!

I received my cd today, as well smile.gif Frank McLaughlin and Gillian MacDonald -- the music is great, and I've discovered that I really love the sound of the Scottish small pipes, especially in conjunction with soft guitar playing. Very haunting and soothing. I hope to post a review soon. Thanks to Highlander Radio and to the artists who contributed their music!

It was my mother that turned me on to the High Kings, as well biggrin.gif Apparently she saw them perform in concert on our PBS station -- She went on and on about how they *looked* as good as they sound (which, ahem, they do).

They have quite a few clips available on YouTube. I was particularly impressed with their rendition of "Rocky Road to Dublin"--they give it such a fantastic edge. But their voices blend in such a lovely way when they sing together. Very impressive, and quite refreshing!
