Sisterknight, I think you're mistaking him. He's just pointing out that calling yourself Irish, even if you've never been there, is beyond flawed. And assuming your temper and his stubbornness (I'd call it steadfastness) comes from your Scottish heritage is borderline insulting. Kind of like saying you like to get drunk because you're Irish. Try not to get too drawn into stereotypes.
Glaswegian, I never took your posts to say you had a lack of pride in your nation or heritage. As always, the opinion of a true Scot/Irish/English/etc. citizen is appreciated.

I have never yet spoken a word of English to any of my children. They can speak as much English as they like to others, but when they talk to me they have to talk in Gaelic."

i never intended to be insulting i was just poking at the bear, he sounds so much like my grandda, i do apologize. does that mean that i should take it that if i called you the peacekeeper because you're canadian you'll be insulted too?
Not when I'm playing the part. Besides, most people will accept a stereotype if it's a positive attribute. Ask me if I've taken my Fishing boat in for the year and I might get a bit annoyed, though.
i'd certainly be crying in my beer if i had to take it in too!! do you do any tuna fishing???my husband was a deck hand for a friend this oct. just off of yer stomping grounds..
um nnnnoooo....fishing is only part of it.....but he did enjoy himself they caught 3 very big ones......never heard about using a kite to do it though, have you????some of our best friends are farmers, cattlemen and military

I agree. Glaswegian's posts were well stated. Sometimes I think we get overly sentimental about our roots. I am proud of my Scots-Irish, British and Polish ancestors, but I am an American by birth and nothing'll ever change that fact.
