Good job Urian! The hard part with one that smart is keeping them interested...they get bored with stuff they already know. Be prepared to be an advocate for your son.....volunteer at school, make your face and opinion known (in a nice way, of course), be a hands-on parent. Make sure the school system lives up to his potential! My oldest was like yours....off the scale somewhere....my youngest has AD and learning disabilities...I KNOW they got tired of lookin' at me, but I kept right on anyway! Oh, and better start looking for that stick NOW. You're gonna need it in about 8 years.....You know, the one to beat the girls off with!

If age is a learning experience, I should be a genius by now...

Be dang proud of your little one and all you've done to help him be who God made him to be.
I've got 4 in the Gifted Program so I know where you are at. A wise woman told me this before my first started school and I'll pass it on to you. A gifted child needs special support almost as much as do those at the other end of the learning curve. Work with the school to make sure he gets it. She also told me that parent's of gifted children need a support group. Just because they're gifted doesn't mean they're easy. Those little minds go a mile a minute non-stop. (so can their mouths ) Learn all you can about what it is to be gifted, especially the social, emotional conditions. It will help your child when the time comes he comprehends he's different and that the world often doesn't understand him. I think I have something I can send you. And don't be surprised if you recognize yourself in the criteria.
I no doubt you are a GREAT father!!!!!!!!

Compassion is the sometimes fatal capacity for feeling what it is like inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too. - Frederick Buechner
If society prospers at the expense of the intangibles, how can it be called progress?
