Greetings all!

Does anyone know of a Welsh Genealogy website or forum?

According to records an ancestor of mine Thomas Llwyd was from Glamorganshire or Glamorgan County, Wales. We know he was born in 1678, we know his sons' names (we're a direct descendent of one of the sons) and we may know his father's name - John.

Everyone I talk to can go no farther than Thomas so I was curious if posting to a forum specifically for Wales Genealogy might help.

Any suggestions appreciated and most welcome. smile.gif

Do you know if your family are Quakers? My family is in the same place at the same time. I have yet to find a family history site for Wales but I did find an interesting history site. It says during this time period the Quakers were being driven out of Wales and most of Great Britain by the government. My family came to America about 1682 and they were Quakers.

Here's a couple free sites - http://www.britishislesgenweb.org/ which goes to:

http://www.walesgenweb.com/

If you have a general idea of what you're looking for, you might have a look at: http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ which includes FreeCen (census data) and FreeReg (parish registers).

Hopefully that gives you something to jump off from. smile.gif

Those are interesting sites. From what I can find so far they are like the US sites in the fact that they only go back to about 1800. My family came to America late 1600s early 1700s. I need something that gives earlier history or information. For the most part most of my family was already here by 1800.
Any ideas how to find earlier histories?
