Hello again...Haven't been on for a while...the summer months seem so much busier than in the Winter. Just don't have as much time to look at all the forums. Hope everyone's Summer is going well. Anyone have great vacations planned? It has been fun playing outdoors with my granddaughter. She is hilarious in the pool. Really doesn't like the water in her face! My husband and I have a few projects going on around our property so haven't managed to get to any camping yet this year. May not get to until closer to Fall. How are all of you doing? All healthy and Happy I hope.

Hello all! It has been ages since I have been here. Life has been both hectic and weird. What can I say?

I have greatly missed talking to you all.

Life for me consists of hubby working at his business. He has had a lot of health issues which could have been serious, but thankfully all was caught very early.

My chronic back pain and fibro pretty much rules my life, but I manage to get out and do some photo shoots. Been doing fashion photography for the last year. Been fun and I love it.

We are back to three Sheltie dogs. We had to give up the English Sheepdog..broke our hearts but he was one very intelligent and yet stubborn, aggressive and self-willed dog. We hated to let him go, but it was just too much as he wanted to be alpha dog and would attack our little female Sheltie for no reason to obtain that role. He finally turned on me and attacked me pretty badly enough to draw blood and I had plenty of bruises to prove it. I think my feelings were hurt more than the wounds I had received. I have never given up on a dog in my life, but I had to with Connor. I understand that dogs like him do best as a working dog and animal control's plans were to place him at a local sheep farm, but I will never know as they refuse to tell me.

After we let Connor go, we rescued a female Sheltie who needed a home very badly. Her name is Maggie. Such a sweetie pie and so very smart!

It remains hot and humid here in the desert, but I am sure our humidity is nothing like what some of you may experience.

Blessings to you all, R

Good to hear from you, Rose! Two of my daughters went with me to the Games in Flagstaff this year. Sure would have loved for you to have met them. They are great, just like there mother and not like their dad!!

Trust you will continue to do well. Take care!

Doesn't look like very many have been visiting this site lately....Hope everyone is well and enjoying their Summer... still hot and humid here in Illinois and have had so little rain this Summer our grass is crispy brown instead of green....that has meant less mowing but it looks horrible. We still haven't gotten in any camping but willl definitely be doing some in October. I did manage 2 small vacations this Summer...Did a car trip to Minnesota and managed to visit the Mall of America while there. If anyone hasn't been there...you have to go someday...it's amazing! Our Granddaughter is growing like a weed. She's over 2 years old now. I actually got to meet one of my fellow Celtic Radio people last Spring and hope to see him again in October. Gandolf came to a Tartan Days Festival last April...it was great meeting him. We sort of live on opposite sides of our state so occasionally shou8ld be in the same area... Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well DesertRose...hello Haynes and lizayuen...

Wow, where did the summer go? I just blinked and it was time for the grandkids to go back to school. We have had a rough couple of months with a death in the family, one of our dogs of 14 years died and I just got my husband out of the hospital. (Sounds like a country song doesn't it? biggrin.gif)

Please tell me that somewhere the weather is cooling off and the leaves might be turning color. We could only squeeze in one week of camping and like Leenie we hope to do more in October or November.

Stay safe everyone.

Hey everyone! After a bit of an absence I'm back again. It's been a surreal summer for me. I had gotten laid off last Jan so I went back and got my CNA certification in May. I worked for a local Nursing home and can say that my own personal experience of the job was not good. Needless to say as I was getting up to tell them I quit they called and told me I was taken off the schedule. No loss for me as I always felt very uncomfortable there. Some places just don't click. So its job hunting time again although I'm not too worried now that I have CNA certification. If I decide to go that route again.
On the plus side guess what I won this past June: A complete prince Charlie Formal kilt outfit. It's in my profile pic. Not sure how to upload a photo from my computer to a post without throwing the photo into a web based photo sharing site. The only thing I didn't get were the shoes and shirt. No big deal.
Nothing else new up here aside form the fact that we have a Goodwill store here now. Took up two store spaces in out only plaza. I hope it has fun competing against the two St. Vincent srores and the umpteen antique shops here. I hope some decent jobs come to the area soon. Lots of people hurting up here.
Granson is getting bigger and is already bouncing up and down like crazy in his walker.
So what's new in Irish music? It's been awful slow lately and finding CD's is getting harder and harder. Been looking for that breakout group that caused as much excitement as Barlyjuice and Albannach have done.

Well today is the fourth day of a big journey for me. I stopped smoking four days ago. Its been hard. But I'm making it. The worst part is not the fact that i need cigarette its the fact that now i have nothing to do with my hands. I never knew how much time i took up when smoking. It amazing. I'm glad that i found this station it's helped me though this. When i do need a smoke i go to my bedroom lay down and turn on this station. Then i grab this stress ball and sit back, close my eyes and just listen. So yet again to the owner(s) of this station thank you for being here with me though it all. Your the shoulder that i needed though it.

Congratulations and stay strong!! January 2, 2003 was my quit date after 25 years of smoking. Even today, I get cravings once in a while but never bow down to that nasty habit. I tried to quit a number of times before that but had varying results, from 15 minutes of being smoke free to a couple of months. I think that it is safe to say that I'm free this time. I feel better now than I did in my 20's and I smell a hell of a lot better (in my opinion).

Happy New Year and here's to a healthy future!!

Greg

thank you for the kind words Keltic. I've only been at this for a little bet of time and it's hard so i have to give you a round of applause for making it this long. I never thought that I would quit and then i just got tired of it a few weeks ago and thought you know what new year new life and i am making it. And a freaky note...... I guess i'm a willow. I read that and it was on the nose. wow. It amazes me how that happen. Someone in the past wrote that and it fits today. freaky shocking.gif

Wow Robert...hope everything has gotten better since you posted this...where has everyone gone? No one is posting much in any of the threads...Everyone seems to be having a rough Winter...maybe all of you are out shoveling the never ending snow that a lot of you have gotten...We have had some snow here in Southern Illinois but not more than we normally get, but Winter isn't over...We've been lucky that most of the storms have either gone North of us or South. to maddogmikk--I hope you stuck with the no smoking...the first of this month marked the 4th year of no smoking for me...it isn't easy and if you slipped...try again..I know you will be successful if you just set your mind to it...

Life been a bot better lately thank the Lord. I 'm back to work full time and learning all kinds of electronic stuff. I had no experience with electronics before this aside from watch repair. My wife is getting lots of hours in at her place and we are slowly getting the daughter's wedding paid off. They went cake testing this last weekend. We have a Scottish band called "A Little of the Ready " out of the Twin Cities thats going to be at the theatre in town this weekend. Brand new band so I'll let everyone know how they are and I'll mention Celtic radio to them. All they have is a couple of songs to download right now on their website. Hopefully they will have a CD at the show At the very least i have another reason to wear my kilt.
All the big storms have missed us this year which has been a nice change of pace. Usually we get all the snow and everyone north and south of us gets nothing. I'm beginning to think we are becoming part of Canada. Forum has been a little down lately with any new discussions but I lurk around everyday to see what's new. Jan and Feb are always slow months for everything.

Robert-- Glad everything is looking up for your family...weddings can be extremely costly...have had 2 in the past 4 years...saw my first Robin today so know that Spring really is just around the corner even though just a little west of here in St. Louis they have had snow coming down all morning, while we had pouring rain. What is it about Spring that makes people want to turn their homes upside down with Spring cleaning. Really wanting to go through closets and cabinets and get rid of a lot. Will have to do it while my husband isn't watching...he is the type to keep something on the off chance he might use it 10 years from now...Hope everyone's Spring is glorious...I'll drop in here occasionally..

It's that time again! What time is that you ask? Time for me to check in and say hello to every one. laugh.gif

One of these days I will limit myself to only a few groups so I can check in more often. laugh.gif

So, Hello every one!

I've been pretty busy lately. I'm going into my second year as a member of the Indianapolis Hurling Club. This year I'm a back-up assistant coach. We have grown to almost 150 members since the club started in 2005.

I have also joined the Ancient Order of Hibernians this year. They do a lot for charities. We had a small parade on Sunday after mass with a whole marching band and police escort. Not bad for a two block parade.

Thursday I will be in my second St. Patrick's Day parade with the Hurling Club. We will meet at 6:30am to turn our local canal green then go have a beer or three. The parade will start at around 11:30am. Then we will put on a demo game for about an hour before eating lunch. I might try to get a shamrock tattoo from a local parlor before meeting up with friends for some more partying and drinking.

I hope every one is doing well and has a great year.
