Raw Feature On Canon Xti

I finally decided to try the RAW feature on my Canon xti, and I must say, I may never shoot without it again.

I now shoot all of my pictures at the highest quality setting and in RAW...the camera saves two files for every shot.

The adjustments you can make with RAW are just incredible. It's a bit more tedious, but for a great picture, it may just be worth the extra effort.

Is this a feature of your particular camera? Our digital camera doesn't sem to have it.

You won't find the RAW format on just any digital camera. And yes, after recently reading an article in Popular Photography, I switched to RAW in its' highest resolution, and it does make a very big difference with tones. The jpeg conversion looks as though each photo is put through a slight bluish hued filter.

What does shooting on the highest setting using RAW do to the file size?

It'll increase in size dramatically. RAW will run about 10Meg, but it's the difference between 16bit and 8bit. The RAW, as I've been reading, is the equivalent of an unprocessed Negative that will never lose its original data or clarity, no matter how much you modify it.
