February

February knows his fortune well,
Even in the bitterness of dawn
Breaking in the coldest hour of hell,
Revealing but the worst that must be borne.
Underneath the ice the passions sleep
Ablaze with all the beauty of their burning,
Rendering a richness that will keep
Yet warm within the cavern of his yearning.

Chocolate Roses

For some time they've nagged at me

And wouldn't leave me alone

And so now I sit and write

This Valentines Day Poem

Sometime ago, abotu three days

I remember walking down store rows

And sitting there, by itself

I saw a chocolate rose

The candy hearts were now long gone

And chocolate boxes stripped from the shelves

All that was left was this one rose

Sitting there by itself

I began to wonder what it was like

To sit there as on time drew

To watch everyone else be chosen

Everyone else... but you

The little rose on a plastic stick

Sticking out from a styrofoam base

I began to wonder how it would look

If the poor little rose had a face

Like so many others in the world today

This poor little rose was ignored

So many pushed into the dark

While others their spirit soar

Valentines is a time to remember

All those forgotten each day

Embrace the light of those you see

And also those who've gone astray

Learn to cherish the ones you love

Learn to accept who you dont' see

When this Valentines rolls in

Think about the rose and me

The rose that sits alone on the shelf

Looking and waiting for the day

Someone will have the heart to see it

Before the chocolate rose melts away

You Are My Heart, My Hope, My Help

You are my heart, my hope, my help,
The passion that is me,
The whole of which I am a part,
My peace, my ecstasy. You are my future, present, past,
My ship, my sail, my ocean,
The wind that brings me home again,
The home for every motion.

You live within me, yet I am
Without you all alone.
With you I am full of light;
Without you I am stone.

Is this foolish? Yes, perhaps,
But also it is true.
I think of life as something I
Can spend with only you.

Ah, my love! Love longs for such
Sweet celebrants as this!
Love is a burden and a joy,
Slavery and bliss.

This day of love come love with me,
Come sing with me my song.
Come be my Valentine, and I
Will love you my life long, my love,
Will love you my life long.

Leelee;

No Luv. you do not have to move to the country to find Love. Love is in the Heart, in the Soul, and in the Mind and all one needs is to open yourself to it.

This is one of my favorite love poems. It is not as ethereal or as passionate as some, but it is real, and speaks of love and acceptance for the long haul:

Love Poem
by John Frederick Nims

My clumsiest dear, whose hands shipwreck vases,
At whose quick touch all glasses chip and ring,
Whose palms are bulls in china, burrs in linen,
And have no cunning with any soft thing

Except all ill-at-ease fidgeting people:
The refugee uncertain at the door
You make at home; deftly you steady
The drunk clambering on his undulant floor.

Unpredictable dear, the taxi drivers' terror,
Shrinking from far headlights pale as a dime
Yet leaping before red apoplectic streetcars-
Misfit in any space. And never on time.

A wrench in clocks and the solar system. Only
With words and people and love you move at ease.
In traffic of wit expertly manoeuver
And keep us, all devotion, at your knees.

Forgetting your coffee spreading on our flannel,
Your lipstick grinning on our coat,
So gaily in love's unbreakable heaven
Our souls on glory of spilt bourbon float.

Be with me darling, early and late. Smash glasses-
I will study wry music for your sake.
For should your hands drop white and empty
All the toys of the world would break.

Stoirmeil;

My favourite Love poem is by Richard Lovelace (1618-1657)

To Lucasta, Going To The Wars.

Tell me not (Sweet) I am unkind,
That from the nunnery
Of thy chaste breast and quiet mind
To war and arms I fly.

True, a new mistress now I chase.
The first foe in the field;
And with a stronger faith embrace
A sword, a horse, a shield.

Yet this inconstancy is such
As you too shall adore;
I could not love thee (Dear) so much,
Lov'd I not Honour more.

Richard Lovelace.
