Celtic Radio Community > Ye Ole Celtic Pub - Open all day, all night! > How Was Your Day Today?

My day was quite busy.

I had to take my car in to get the heater looked at. The fan would blow, but not very powerful and only for a few minutes. Didn't hear back from the shop today (they were busy), so I'll hear back from them tomorrow. Hopefully it ain't too expensive.

I took the bus home from the garage. I haven't ridden on that bus route in several years. I felt like I should've been coming home from high school.

I spent the majority of the day pulling out the storage bins with our Christmas stuff in them. I tested all the outdoor lights and marked the bad ones. That alone took an hour and a half. Also, I threw away some old srands my parents must've been keeping for sentimental reasons. They haven't worked in five years.

Surprisingly it was a very good day. It was back to classes at college but my chem lab that is normally 3 hours was only about an hour long so that was really nice. I got to hang out with the girls in my suite for a while and I finally got back to my New York City Ballet Workout video which felt really good. Over all I have to say that it was a red letter day laugh.gif

Ahh, well Tuesdays are my only days to sleep in so my day just started, oh about 10 minutes ago. I had to work at noon. So I woke up made some breakfast...er...lunch and then went to work. I work till five, so I am going to serach for more jobs while I'm at it. Then after work I am going to go watch Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban with my roomy who likes harry potter, not the other one. My house is weird. Oh well.

Well, my morning started off debating with my manager on RULES. His "policy" is that no one at our work will be allowed to take both Christmas and New Year's off. I submitted a vacation request back in September that was going to include both days, but our vacation is Use it or Lose it by Dec 31st. Of course it got denied, so out of that whole vacation, I have to come in New Year's Eve to work.

Now to the debate part...4 other people were granted vacation that included both days off, just because they're going out of town. Mine was denied without him even asking if I had plans to travel.

Anyway, after I got home, I went to bed, so that was an improvement. rolleyes.gif

I've had a good day, other than having a cold and my head feeling like it weighs 20 pounds, I'm good.
Thanksgiving was good, our youngest son turned 8 and our oldest son will be 16 this time In January. Our oldest daughter, (only one, too) will be 18 in March!!! rolleyes.gif

Sometimes it is hard to believe that they are that old, lol....no wonder I have so many gray hairs!!! smile.gif

I have to admit that my day has been improving. My Cold or what ever it was is starting to show signs of letting up after about a Month of Sundays. sad.gif There should be some kind of law making Colds Illegal.

And LiliMarlene, never admit to Gray Hairs. Just say they are White.

Welcome aboard, LiliMarlene! I think colds should be outlawed too, Richard. I have spent all day trying not to hack up a lung. My cold/chest thingy has lasted almost three weeks now. I had to go back to the doctor today and got steroids for it, so I will be better soon smile.gif
Other than that my day was great - a bit slow. And I miss someone very terribly. Someone who was part of my life and cannot be that anymore. So I am a bit bummed to tell the truth! But like you said, freekenny, and you Richard. I am alive, and have more than most people in the world can say that they have. So I am very lucky indeed!

LOL! I am indeed "bulking up" Bill - getting chest hair, all that good stuff. Thankfully the cold is gone, but b/c of my asthma it hits my chest if I am not careful. And don't worry - the only violent thing around me right now is my coughing, hah hah! But you didn't tell us - share with the class. How was your day?

My day was just ok. My CD player in my car just quit working, I can't get any out or any in. Then I found out my fathers home health care person is quitting in two weeks. So this means if we can't find someone to watch my Dad he will have to go to a nursing home. I am thankful for today but some times I think we can pray for a little more help. Guess it could be a lot worse. Ok I am done venting. Off to Taekwando... smile.gif yinyang.gif

My day has consisted of the same thing for the past couple years. Get up, get dressed, wake kids, feed kids, take kids to school, pick up kids from school, go home, eat, feed kids, read story, sleep and then repeat.

Just another day, but I love the time I get to spend with my kids.

My night last night was BUSY! Singtel (singapore telecom) had one of their undersea cables go down and they're not expected to get it working again until the end of the month (takes awhile to dispatch a cable ship to fix it). We had a few customers that were understandably ticked, and I got to play damage control all night. rolleyes.gif Hopefully things will be quieter tonight. I can agree with the sick and tired part. I've had a cold since last Tuesday. Lost my voice for saturday and sunday. I got it back Monday, just to be stuck on the phone all night and strain it again. I've been suckin' down orange juice and cough drops to keep from coughing my head off. rolleyes.gif

Hey there, MDF3530 so glad you did the gum. I used to smoke 2.5 packs of cigs a day. I quit 16 years ago. It was the hardest thing I think I ever did, but the best for me. I sometimes have nightmares wake up and think "oh, I didn't smoke it was just a dream" Is that my body saying DONT??? Congrats in quitting. Oh, I lost my Mom to lung cancer 16 years ago, when they removed it and her lung ribs etc. the cancer was the size of a saucer and black it was the most disgusting matter I have ever seen. My Mom suffered 41 days in ICU I wish people who smoked could know of this pain.

Have a good day MDF3530!

I quit because it was getting too expensive.

I used to buy my smokes at this place just over the border in Indiana. I mean literally just over the border. Where this place was, you could spit in Illinois and it'd land in Indiana.

Anyway, I bought my smokes in Indiana because their taxes weren't as high as Illinois', and particularly Chicago's. But then the prices started heading north there too. I think the last I paid for a carton of filtered Pall Malls (the last brand I smoked) was just over $30, tax included. My New Years' resolution was to quit smoking that year anyway, so I did. I used the nicotine patches for the withdrawal and sugarfree chewing gum for the oral satisfaction.

I do still get cravings from time to time, and sugarfree chewing gum (I prefer Wrigley's Extra bubble gum biggrin.gif ) does the trick.

Congratulations, Mike! I am proud of you. Quitting that addiction is VERY hard. I have been off them for 25 years, now. I no longer crave them, but I have NO tolerance for second hand smoke. I walked out of a restaurant yesterday because of the smokey atmosphere. It makes me physically ill. I am what you would call a "born again breather". tongue.gif

To tell the truth, I wouldn't mind it if bars and restaurants in my area went smoke-free. Some in the Chicago area already are, either by choice or local ordinance. I can definitely tell that I was at a bar the night before because of the way my clothes smell. Now I know how my friends felt when I was around (I was the only smoker). Plus, my friend Nathan has asthma and cigarette smoke irritates his condition. He was most happy when I quit.

Started off helping a friend who was working a wreck that was alcohol related. The guy had too much to drink and kind of straightened out the curves, winding up nose diving his truck into a ditch. A little while later I noticed a guy driving, speeding, all over the road ect. I pulled him over to tell him, "Don't do that anymore!" When he opened the door the fumes singed my eyebrows off and the first words out of his mouth were, "I'm ******, I'm drunk, just take me to jail." That was the least of his problems, as back at my office he would have little episodes, look around in confusion, then ask, "Where am I, who are you, am I in Jail, did you arrest me?" "Yep." Once I had dropped this guy off at the jail "Don't put me in with the general population, I'm bi-polar and I can't take it." I assisted in yet another DUI arrest. When I tried to get home I got flagged down for a wreck in the parking lot near a bar. The driver was not DUI but too upset to drive, so who is going to drive? The designated driver admits to having a "couple" but earlier. I convince everyone that this car is now screaming pull me over to every cop on the street, wouldn't a taxi be so much easer? beer_mug.gif beer_mug.gif beer_mug.gif beer_mug.gif beer_mug.gif

I do most of my drinking at home. I don't need a DUI following me around. I will occasionally go out and have two, three beers with the guys. That's usually over a three hour span, and we don't go bar-hopping. We go to one place and stay there. Usually, we just go to this place that is the only one in the neighborhood with Killian's on tap.

I had a real nice day. It was a lot of leisure. I read the newspaper extra long, I read some of a book I am reading called Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. . I kept a fire going since last night.

Anyhow was a nice day.

I second what maggie said Thank you erickbloodax for being out there and risking your life for others!

Welcome, Highlander Medic! You and Eric Bloodaxe help keep us safe. We all appreciate your efforts and welcome you here in our community.
My day is going well, with SOME work happening on my project. We are finally moving forward. I got bored in December without much to do. You might have noticed the number of posts I added in December. laugh.gif

Well, it is Monday and a holiday to boot...which means my day is really busy with lots of calls. I really do not like Mondays... sad.gif So I sit here in this chair for 8 hours listening to people...thinking to myself..don't they have a life? is this all they do on a day off? Weird, then all the voices in my heads start talking and I lose my train of thought. I wonder if I even have a train of thought? I am like that some times... laugh.gif

Hey masky, I am glad you drink at home. Wish there were more people who did!
That is a real nice thing to say jpmoore. Time will tell I guess. I like your avatar. Maggie and CarolinaScotsman "funny" Athalay I wouldn't think you should be responsible because she missed the test you should be able to make it up on your time. Let us know how it goes. Aragorn, you sound like you have a interesting job. May I ask what you do? I hate voices in my head! LOL
You have a great day no matter what.

The voices in my head tell me that if I'm giggling, I'm having too much fun. I tried to stop a guy this morning just to tell him he needed to fix his headlight. So he runs! Sorry, but when the rabbit runs, I just have to chase it. Down a few streets he tries to get between two houses. That doesn't work so he bails out and jumps over a wall leaving the car in gear and moving, no fair! He leaves four people in the car, one passed out and two with warrants, so I guess he knew I would have to make room to carry three. nono.gif
Thank you all for your kind words, I feel a little guilty as I love my job so much. Who can tell me who it was that said, "Then I will be the hound for the city."?

Why are these criminals so dumb? Have you ever ran across a smart one? If so how?

Have a great day

Been awhile since anyone has posted in this thread.

I had a very frightening experience today.

I was coming home from looking for a job and returning a video game to Blockbuster. All of a sudden, my brakes failed ohmy.gif ! I had to floor the brake pedal (not the pedal I like to do that with-I'm a leadfoot biggrin.gif ) to stop my car. I figured a leak had sprung somewhere in my brake system.

I took it to the local Car-X. They said the cylinder that pumps the brake fluid to the rear passenger side brake had cracked, and the one on the rear driver side didn't look too good either. It wasn't too costly to take care of the problem, about $100. I just thank God it didn't happen this morning when I was on an expressway. That would've been disastrous.

Geepers Mike! Do you believe in angels? You could have really been hurt or worse.
I'm so glad you are alright and that it was fixed for not too much money!
I have had friends and family who had brakes go bad and it was terrifying.
So glad you are okay though.
