Has anyone besides me read the book Nephilim by L. A. Marzulli? What did yo think of it? Have you read The Unholy Deception, the second book in the series? I have not. How is it?

Let's talk about it!

Is that the book that has an alien-like figure on the cover? If so, one of my co-workers was reading it a couple of summers ago. He really liked it, and tried to describe the plot for me. However, I don't really remember what he said it was about...
This thread could turn into a very interesting discussion on the Nephilim... I will keep my eye on it!

Yes! That's the book! The premise is pretty interesting. I'm not sure myself what I think of it, bout as a work of fiction it was definitely interesting and thought-provoking.

In Genesis 6 verses 1-4, the Bbile dexcribes the condition of the world before the flood. It also describes a group of people referred to as "the sons of God" which went in to the daughters of men and produced children. Scholars have debated who these "sons" were, but one camp says that they were angels and as a result of their sin, not only were these angels kicked out of heaven, but men had to be destroyed because these children had contaminated with the world with their evil.

The Bible describes Noah as "perfect in his generation". Now we, as Christians, Know that the only perfect man to ever live wes Jesus, so what does this phrase mean? These scholars interpret this line to mean that Noah's DNA was not contaminated by the demonic genes!

Also, the Bible describes two sets of fallen angels. The first is the group we now refer to as demons, those fallen angels that continue to plague man to this day. Then it also describes a group that were bound in chains in the outer darkness. Now we know that our God is a just God, so why would there be two separate punishments for these angels if they all committed the same sin (rebelling against God)? These scholars say, then, that there must have two separate groups of angels guilty of two separate sins: those that fell with Satan, and those that "kept not their first estate" and came to earth as described above to contaminate the gene pool in order to prevent the birthof Jesus!

Now Jesus in Matt. 24:37-38 describes what the world will be like in the last days. But the things that He describes are pretty much things that have always been with us. But He also says that things will be as they were in the day of Noah. Well, the only thing that is differnet between today and those days is the presence of the Nephilim.

Now all of this only describes half of the book's premise. the other half is basically this: If things must be like the days of Noah for these to be the last days, and if the only thing missing is the presence of the Nephilim, then that means that the Nephilim must be here with us now! And if so then who and where are they?

Well, according to L A Marzulli they are here in the form of .... aliens! He says that these fallen angels are with us now masquarading as aliens to abduct women and impregnate them with their DNA and begin the process again that reulted in the destruction of the world!

This is a very hastily and patchy explanation of the basic premise of the book. I am sure that I have created a lot of questions in my haste to write this. If so, just let me know and I will try to go into more detail.

As I said before, I don't necessarily agree with everything written, but it sure does make for an interesting theory!

Wow, that does sound like a really good book. If you liked that though you should look up the Book of Enoch... It's an ancient text that was supposed to be supplemental to the Bible... I believe it was widely taught up through the 3rd century ad until the Council of Laodicea (a council to decide what should and should not be allowed in the Bible). Then it largely fell into myth until 1777 when 3 Ethiopic copies were found by an explorer named James Bruce. They were translated into English in the 1820's and in the last century 7 copies copies in Aramaic were found with the Dead Sea Scrolls and there were some Greek versions also found.

Anyways, point being: the first book, titled The Watchers, deals with thos fallen angels and the nephilim... It tells how those angels were cast out and separate from the angels that fell with Satan because the second set made the mistake of falling in love with human women and having children with them, both of which were big no-no's. The nephilim were supposed to be horrible giants... And I probably shouldn't go on in case you want to read it for yourself. Sorry! smile.gif

If you just go to any search engine and type in Book of Enoch you'll get dozens of on-line copies of it. If not and you want to take a look I'll send you a link. But that book sounds really good, I think I'll be looking for that on my next trip to the library. smile.gif

My reading experience in this subject is limited to the "Wrinkle in Time" Series.

Actually, Caelia, I have the book of Enoch! But thanks for the suggestion! This book is mentioned in the Nephilim and plays a big part in it. The book of Enoch talks about how these fallen angels traded weapons (and other pieces of technology) for access to human women, and that is what the author suggests will be the next step on the Nephilim's agenda... appearing publicly and asking to trade their advanced technology for access to human DNA! His suggestion is that they will say they are from a dying race and need the DNA in order to be able to reproduce!

Hi again RavenWing!
I have not read the Wrinkle in Time series! Does it deal with similar topics? Please let me know, because if so, I might be interested in reading them too!

Hi all!

If anyone is interested, I just wanted to let you know that I purchased the 2nd book in this series today. It is called "The Unholy Deception." I'll let you know what I think when I'm done.

Oh, I definitely want to hear about it when you're done. I've looked for those books in my library but they had a fire back in the spring which seems to have ruined basically everything I wanted to read :s Until they re-stock there's not much for me I'm afraid.

Hi!

Just wanted to let you know that I finished The Unholy Deception and that it was every bit as good as the first book. I only saw one problem with the book: the cast has doubled in size since the first book and I found myself having trouble remembering who people were - especially amongst the bad guys! Anyway, despite that I highly recommend both books to anyone who is interested!

Hi!

I just found out that L. A. Marzulli has released a third book in this series called The Revealing! Looks pretty good! Can't wait to read it!

By the way, I watched the movie. It was called The Fallen Ones. It wasn't very good. Boy was I disappointed!
