Mp3pro And Apple Itunes - Wow!

I just made an absolutely thrilling discovery.

I've been really appreciating the great music here at Celticradio, and thinking that the great sound was largely due to my new 17" PowerBook ("You know, it actually sounds like it's in stereo").

Then I noticed the "MP3 Pro" reference on the scroling header at the top of the iTunes window. I went to the mp3prozone.com website and read a bit about it. This is as good as playing Current Song Title and Album Title display in the iTunes header. Wow. Great quality sound, great music, and an 802.11(g) equipped Powerbook I can listen to it on, in any room of the house. Today is a good day.

I am so glad that you discovered and appreciate this technology! It is truely amazing the sound quality that is produced with the MP3 Pro plug-ins.

For a bit of techno info, the sound quality you hear is only possible using the MP3 PRO plugin and on the streaming end we need to have a special encoder. The good folks at audiorealm.com (Highlander Radio's home music directory) gave us the encoder to use with the latest broadcast software. There are very few places that are actually using this technology because of availability of the encoder.

The MP3 Pro plugin makes our 64kps stereo stream sound like 128kps MP3-CD quality stream. Try a listen at any of the other Celtic Radio stations that are broadcasting at 64kps or less, then listen to our stream and you will notice a big difference in sound quality.

Another note too is that alot of Internet Providers are now starting to limit your kps download. Especially cable providers, so listeners may not be even able to hear a 128kps stream as it uses alot of download bandwidth. Yet with MP3 PRO they can hear the same quality and only use half the bandwidth.

That is what I've been marveling to my friends (all PCers) for three years now (Highlander Radio, Apple, and iTunes).
