Hi Gang

Awhile back before my trip some posted a request for the words to this song. I saw the words posted once but sent them to another friend who had them once and lost the copy though she had the song on tape which is where she got the words from for the lost copy. She said the words I sent her were wrong and for a different song so she sat and copied the words again in part for herself as for me and I have posted them below. Couldn't find the post as Paul's gone and changed all the forums around. I think maybe just to mess me up upon my return.  :p Anyways here they are

Quote
THE SONG OF THE CLYDE

I sing of a river I'm happy beside
The song that I sing is the song of the Clyde
Of all Scottish rivers it's dearest tae me
It flows frae the hills all the way to the sea.
It borders the orchards of Lanark so fair
Meanders through meadows with sheep grazing there
But from Glasgow to Greenock in towns on each side
The hammers ding dong, it's the Song of the Clyde

CHORUS:

Oh the River Clyde, the wonderful Clyde
The name of it thrills me and fills me with pride
And I'm satisfied what e'er may betide,
The sweetest of songs is the Song of the Clyde

Imagine we've left Craigendorran behind
And wind happy yachts by Kilcreggan we find
At Kirn and Dunoon and Innellan we stay
Then Scotland's Madeira, that's Rothesay they say
Or maybe by Fairlie or Largs we will go
Or over tae Millport that thrills people so
Maybe journey to Arran that can't be denied
These scenes all belong to the Song of the Clyde

- CHORUS -

There's paw and maw at the Broomilaw they're going doon the watter for the
Fair
There's Bob and Mary on the Govan Ferry wishing jet propulsion could be
there
There's steamers cruisin' and there's buddies snoozing and there's laddies
fishing frae the pier
And Paw's perspiring very near expiring as he rows a boat frae there tae
here
With eyes a'flashin' and it's motor splashin' to be walking daily on the
prom
And me and Evelyn are in seventh Heaven as we stroll along with Dick and Tom
and Dumbarton Rock to every Jean and Jock extends a welcome that is high and
wide
Seem to know that they are on the homeward way to hear the Song of the Clyde

- CHORUS -

THAT'S IT!!!!!Those are the words I was looking for!!!! Oh thanks soooooooo much.  You have no idea what this means to me.  It is a long story but my dear dear friend, Johnny, who passed away from cancer in December, said he would take me fishing in the River Clyde. I hate to fish but I love any kind of water..I love sitting beside it. Any way... I said he could fish and I would sing the song The River Clyde.  He of course just knew I would never get the words right.  I guess you could call it my tribute to my friend to be able to stand at the River Clyde with his family and sing that song.  Silly, eh?? but worth a million $$$ to me  THANKS  :D

ShortBit

Glad I could help. I did just receive a slight correction for this it is in the last verse. She said there was an error in what she originally sent so it is just in the last verse in the line that starts
