Aon,
I'm glad your exam went well.  When do you get out of school for the summer?
Got to tell how SWII is.  I can't waite to see it.  Hubbie's realy into special effects in movies.  Been a Star Wars fan from the begining.

yes maggie it is.  Homemade is the best.  You can make pancakes, waffels, English muffins, corn bread and of course yeast bread plus a whole lot more.  My family loves the biscuts I make.  I'll share the recipes I have if you're intrested.

Yes, Please do, aklassie.  I would like to try my hand at making sourdough bread.  I've never ate a sourdough biscuit before.  Sounds good!!

SWII was, erm better than epI but I'm afraid the story of I, II & III will never reach the level of IV, V & VI.
But Yoda fights! Great scene.
But I won't tell anything more, because you will see it yourself.
Me being a Star Wars Fan is my parents fault. They are quite into SciFi and I was a little child when I saw all 3 episodes for the first time.

I like sourdough bread, it is excellent with butter & bacon...hmmm :)

Looking forward to seeing the movie.
Maggie to get you started you'll need to make a starter first.
I'll post some recipes a little later when I have alittle more time.
But you'll need to get a starter started before you can make bread and it'll take a few days to sour befor you can bake.
You need to find a very clean jar, I have a crock that I use.
Loose fitting lid is also needed.
Put in about 2 cups of flour and enough warm water to make a thick paste (will thin out) I add alittle yeast to make it start working faster.  When it's nice a bubblie it's ready to use.

Here is the biscut recipe:
Mix together 1/2c. starter, 1c.milk and 1c. unsifted flour and let stand in a warm place for 4-8 hours.  I like this because you can mix it together in the morning if you plan on having them for supper or just befor going to bed if you want them for breakfast.
Then add:
1c. flour                 1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt            1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. sugar           1/2 pkg. dry yeast.
Mix togther and turn out onto floured board.  knead lightly 8-10 times.  Roll out dough to about 3/4 inch thickness.  cut into biscuts and place on greased baking sheet brush to with olive or other oil.  Cover and let rise for about 30 min.  Bake in a 375F oven for 30 min.
enjoy ! ! !  !

Here's a wonderful bread recipe.  I like it because it's moist and keeps well.

Sourdough Potato Bread

Instant mash potatoes (amount for 2 servings)  plus water, milk, butter, and salt as specified on package
1/4c. milk
1/4c. butter, melted and cooled
2 large eggs
1 c. starter
1 pkg. yeast
5 1/2- 6 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1 larg egg white beaten with 2 T water

Prepare instant potatoes according to package.  Add 3/4 c. milk, 1/4c. butter and the 2 eggs, and starter; stir until blended.
Combine yeat, 2c. flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl.  Add potato mixture and beat on medium speed for 2 min.  Add 11/2 c. flour and continue to beat for 2 more min.
Beat in 11/2 c. more flour
Turn out onto a lightly floured board and knead until smoth and springy (15 to 20 min.), adding more flour as needed to prevent sticking.  Place in a greased bowl;turn over to grease top.
Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled (1 1/2 to 2 hrs.)
Punch dough down and knead brefly on a floured doard to release air. Cut in half.
You can make 2 braided loaves or 2 round loaves:

For round: shape each half into a ball and place each on a greased baking sheet.  With a razor blade or sharp knife, cut 1/2 in.-deep slashes in a tic-tac-toe pattern in tops.

For braided loaves:  Divide one portion into 3 equal pieces (keeping remaining dough covered), roll each piece into a rope about 15 in. long, and arrange about 1 in. apart on a greased baking sheet; braid loosely, pinching ends together and tucking under loaf.  Repeat to shape reaming dough, using another baking sheet.

Cover lightly and let rise in a warm place until almost doubled (about 45 min.)
Brush with egg white mixture.  Bake in a 350F oven until richly browned (25 to 30 min for braided, 30 to 35 min. for round loaves), switching pan positions halfway through baking.  Transfer to racks and let cool.
Enjoy ! ! ! ! !

I can't make enough of the potato bread.  Everyone loves it here.  Makes great rolls also.

----ooh that sounds yummy, aklassie.  I'm going to try that recipe this coming week.  Bread is my one true weakness.
I'm trying to find lahuash bread.  Does anyone know where I might be able to find the bread already made or a recipe for it? It makes a delicious sandwich with turkey or ham, with cheese, leaf lettuce, mild banana peppers and italian dressing drizzeled on it. Yummy!!  It's cut in slices and rolled up like a jellyroll.  I buy them at Wal-Marts in the deli.
