Hello,
I'm looking for some kind of software to make Clad Badges with. Right now I have to take an imaged and take out what I don't want in it. Usally the wording and colors of the strap plust what is in the middle that represent itself as a clan badge. I belong to a clan and wist to work on my own clan badge for me and other members of my clan. I'm also starting a group called the: Scottish American Society – Nature Coast Florida.

I could really use this software and have everything be like a point and click. Now I have to almost go over evert pixell to change the colors on them! Talk about time consuming! Thanks.

Aye,
Thomas

As a lot of  you know I am very active with Clan Donnachaidh, and I am also active with Scottish Country Dancing.  I hold a position with both of these organization, of course membership is always on the agenda.

So here is my question.  When you join a Clan what do you expect from your membership?  Are any of you active volunteers?  I'm interested in your input and  and I'd like to know what your Clan does for their member?

Hello gwenlee,
I don't have anything to say about my clan at the moment. I guess its pretty fair. I do have an image for you in regards to your own clan. Enjoy.

To those members who are really into Scotlands' History I would like to mention that whilst in Scotland last October I watched one of the series "The Clans" the night I watched it it was about the Clan Campbell and one of the asides they brought up was that they seem to have proof that Robert the Bruce was a Leper.
This fact was of course kept secret from the people at the time as no one would have followed him and History would have taken a far different course. In the movie Braveheart (piece of garbage) it was his father that was portrayed  as having Leprosy.

Camac.

I don't think we'll ever really know what exactly it was, not without "forensic" testing anyway! rolleyes.gif History states he had an "unclean" disease, which could mean leprosy, syphillis, psoriasis, some sort of neuropathic malady even. Who's to know? smile.gif

Greetings Fionna Machumhail,
You say: "I don't think we'll ever really know what exactly it was, not without "forensic" testing anyway! rolleyes.gif History states he had an "unclean" disease, which could mean leprosy, syphillis, psoriasis, some sort of neuropathic malady even. Who's to know? smile.gif"

I can see it now, a brand new show on CBS called "Highlands CSI"!! Sorry I couldn't resist!

New member here!

My grandmother's family were, at one time or another, McKusick, McKissock, and then, after Ellis Island, just Kissock. At one point, on a visit to Scotland, it seemed as if the family had associations (even if just geographically) with both Clanranald and with Campbell of Argyll. My grandfather's family was Young. I'd understood him to be a lowlander and, hence, not related to a Clan, but there has been recent information about a Clan Young tartan. My grandfather was a jokey sort, and none of us are entirely certain where he was from (sometimes he'd say "Perth" and at others "Dundee"). His sister would say that we were descended from Scottish kings, to which he'd reply "Don't forget the cattle thieves".

At any rate, if anyone has any insights into these clans and the likelihood of our connections to any of them, I'd appreciate hearing them!

Thanks!

Greetings Gallesjrrt,
Found your post here and had to stop and say Hello! What caught my eye is the Clan Crest that appaers with every post you make. I'm a member of Clan Young too. Are you aware that there is a Yahoo group for members of Clan Young? Anyway it was nice to see a member of Clan Young here!

Best Aye,
Thomas Young

Greetings,
Well I didn't get a reply or even an answer here! Strange I would have thought I would have gotten some kind of advice. Oh well, thats ok, I found it myself. I guess from the no responce that there is no Parent or main organization for the Scottish American Society for the United States. Just a lot using the same name through out the country. Seems that the one I was trying to get information from split up around 2001. Now I'm trying to start a group here where I live. Any Advice? Thanks

Best Aye,
Thomas

Hello Everyone,
I have a question that I'm asking from someone who has been involved with Clan’s and being around some of the Scottish Games for some time. Most of the Scottish Games are hosted by organizations calling themselves as Scottish-American Society and there city or location name. Such as the following in just my state of Florida below:
Scottish American Society of South Florida
http://www.sassf.org/

The Scottish-American society of Central Florida
http://www.flascot.com/

Scottish American Society of Palm Beach County
http://www.saspbc.org/

Scottish American Society of The Villages
http://www.scotsamvillages.org/id17.html

Scottish American Society; Florida – Tallahassee
http://www.rampantscotland.com/features/societies.htm

Scottish American Society Dunedin
http://www.dunedinhighlandgames.com/clans.html

There use to be one so called Scottish-American Society here where I live. My question, is there a parent organization to all of these Scottish-American Society’s? Or are they all just individual groups using the same name? Reason being that I do live near a town that was named after a town in Scotland called Inverness. At one time there were the Scottish people settling into this area. The former Scottish-American Society of Citrus County Florida is no longer too. I’m trying to bring it back and feel that I should contact the original or parent group of the Scottish-American Society for that purpose. I’m also hoping that this end result will start yearly Scottish Games here in Citrus County Florida.

Thanks Aye,
Thomas Young

[COLOR=Blue][SIZE=1]Hello there! Let me introduce myself, my name is Thomas Young, however I also go by Bear too.

I live in Florida which is near the Gulf of Mexico side. Not too far from Inverness (named after the town in Scotland I hear) Florida.

Originally I grew up in Redford, Michigan in the suburbs’ of Detroit. Then I moved to the country of Michigan near Highland (another Scottish namesake town!) Michigan.

From Michigan I moved to here in Florida and spent about 5 years here before I moved to the State of Wyoming. The Mountains were calling me. I moved to a small town called Douglas (WOW! another town with the heavy influence from Scotland!) Wyoming. I stayed there for about 6 years and moved back here to Florida. My moving days are over now. I mat travel or at some time buy a place out west for the summers and go back and forth from here.

I belong to Clan Young and I’m doing my research on my Family Tree. On my Fathers side, my Grand-Mother was Irish. My Grand-Father was Scottish. On my Mothers side I’m German, Scotch (Graham Clan) and American Indian. That’s were I get my name of Bear. I’m enjoying my studies in doing the research on both sides of the family.

I’m also very interested in learning more on the people of Scotland and where they came from. I hear that some of the Scottish Families came from Ireland. Others came from the Nordic Viking race and also some came and settled in Scotland who were called the Picts. So much to learn and enjoying it all. Would love to be able to learn the Scottish Gaelic Language too.

Take care,
Thomas Young
