The hand is still rough, why, it even has some calluses, but it’s a beginning.

The hand…
It picks things up and carries them
It points the way to begin
It’s at the end of every hug
Can even help you deal with thugs
It tells you when to hold on fast
It lets you know to let go at last
It shakes hallow and waves good by
Can even wipe your tears aside
It ties things up and cuts them free
Can even keep you company
It picks your nose when no one sees
And wipes your bum so tenderly
It speaks to those who can not hear
It sticks its fingers in your ears
Can hold it out to those in need
Without our hand who would we be
Another handy cap you see
So thank you Lord for giving me
A hand to write this poem for thee
