I was a highway man. along the coach roads I did ride. with sword and pistol by my side. Many a young maid lost her baubbles to my trade. Many a soldier shead his life blood on my blade. The bastards hung me in the spring of '25 but I am still alive. Higwayman by Johnny, willie, waylon, kris.. |

It was a local newspaper article where I first heard of this. Normally I quell earworms by finding the song. no major ones atm, but some that like me: I'm not the one who's so far away When I feel the snakebite enter my veins Drum solo from "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" Six long months I've spent in Dublin Six long months doing nothing at all Six long months I've spent in Dublin Learning to dance for Lannigans ball advance appologies for errors in the following German. it's on the fly translations that I hear somewhat broken anyway This is pretty muich as I hear it. errors included: Alles Ich sie geben, alles koemmt zueruch nach mir An ritten... Dursch die nacht...An ritten It's the end of the world as we know it And I feel fine Lost On a painted sky Where the clouds are hung For the poet's eye It is by will alone I set my mind in motion It is by the juice of Saphoo that thoughts aquire speed The lips aquire a stain The stains become a warning It is by will alone I set my mind in motion Fly, lonely angel High above these streets of fire Fly, lonely angel Far away from mad desire I'll post more shortly |

While the sand Would become the stone Which begat the spark Turn to living bone Holy Holy Santaus Santaus BE I am a mystic fiddler And I have travelled far A thousand million years just to play my song for you And if you'll only listen I swear I'll tell to you A thousand years of truths As I play my song for you Turn it up Turn it up Turn it upside down There is ... A House ... In New Orleans They Call the Rising sun It's been the ruin of many a poor boy And God, I know I'm one Tell me why you're crying my son I know you're frightened like everyone Is it the thunder in the distance you fear? Will it help if I stay very near? I am here Where have all the flowers gone? Long time passing Where have all the flowers gone? Long time ago If I go crazy then will you still call me Superman If I'm alive and well will you be there holding my hand I wanna touch you but I'd better not touch I whanna kiss you but your lips are venomous poison Moon rising Disguising Up to meet The purple dawn Dust deamons Screaming Bring an Eagle To lead me on Father McKenzie Writing the words to a sermon that noone will hear noone comes near look at him working jotting his thoughts in the night while there's nobody there What does he care All the lonely people Where do they all come from All the lonely people Where do they all belong Still more to come I'm plauged by these things Nevermind. I got 25% of the way through my collection and was still going strong. A bit much to post here. Earworms are how my collection grows! |

Warren Zevon(one of the most underrated artists ever) Keep me in your heart... Shadows are falling and I'm running out of breath Keep me in your heart for awhile If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less Keep me in your heart for awhile When you get up in the morning and you see that crazy sun Keep me in your heart for while There's a train leaving nightly called when all is said and done Keep me in your heart for while Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo Keep me in your heart for while Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo Keep me in your heart for while Sometimes when you're doing simple things around the house Maybe you'll think of me and smile You know I'm tied to you like the buttons on your blouse Keep me in your heart for while Hold me in your thoughts, take me to your dreams Touch me as I fall into view When the winter comes keep the fires lit And I will be right next to you Engine driver's headed north to Pleasant Stream Keep me in your heart for while These wheels keep turning but they're running out of steam Keep me in your heart for while Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo Keep me in your heart for while Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo Keep me in your heart for while Keep me in your heart for while |

I admit I watched "Highlander" movies recently...and now there is this song by Queen...Princes of the universe... "Here we are. Born to be kings. We're the princes of the universe. Here we belong. Fighting to survive. In a world with the darkest powers. And here we are. We're the princes of the universe...." |

I will sometimes get names and phrases running through my head as often as songs. One that lasted for 10 days was "Marge Inovera," the staff statistician on Car Talk. To get rid of earworms, I have a song that I usually push through it to force the earworm out. If anyone remembers "The State," a sketch comedy show on MTV about 14 years ago (some of the folks from "Reno 911" are on it, as was the Joe Black from "Ed"). The song in question is "You'll Always Give Me a Boner," which was hilarious, especially considering Kerry Henley (the only woman in the cast) was also singing the song. Erik Deckers |

An instrumental piece by a string quartet/band, Bond. I think it is Explosion I have stuck in my head...or maybe another one..I don't know..I listened to them for an hour and half after school today waiting for my sister...the same songs over and over again..wonder why it is stuck in my head?? |
Posted by: WizardofOwls 10-Dec-2004, 09:25 PM |
Right now, its " How can I keep from singing?" by Enya. Just that one phrase. Over and over again.... |
Posted by: Aaediwen 12-Dec-2004, 05:33 PM
If it's not a bad song, I tend to find the song and play it until I can't play it anymore. That used to be how my collection grew. As a result, anymore when I get an Earworm I've probably got it in my library already. So I find it and turn on single track repeat. Generally takes anywhere from twice through to a couple times a full 24 hours or more. |

Ok due to another board where we are doing a song its-Giddy up, Giddy up , Giddy up Lets go |
Posted by: maisky 13-Dec-2004, 07:17 AM
To dislodge this particularly invidious and smelly tune, try hitting yourself in the head with a stick, repeatedly. |

Hi Maisky, are you sure it wasn't a rake I should use like in the Llama Song, that did yep! |
Posted by: maisky 13-Dec-2004, 08:33 PM
A rake is ok, but make sure you use the dull side. The pointy side should be reserved for telephone solicitors and bill collectors. |
Posted by: Rindy1202 13-Dec-2004, 10:21 PM
Maisky your too funny. The rake will do I will use the dull side. What if I don't remember anything? What if it removes what little I have??? |
Posted by: maisky 14-Dec-2004, 06:51 AM
That's ok, you will still be talented, witty, charming, beautiful...... |

I've had "Hotel California" lodged just behind my left eye all day. |
Posted by: JaneyMae 21-Dec-2004, 01:41 PM |
How'd it get there? Thought you knew better, Maisky. |
Posted by: maisky 22-Dec-2004, 07:30 AM |
It all comes from listening to internet radio all day. Mostly the tunes are in one ear and out the other. Occasionally one gets lodged in the middle. Sigh! |
Posted by: JaneyMae 22-Dec-2004, 12:01 PM |
In one ear and out the other = a breezeway How about "Turn, Turn, Turn" by the Byrds |
Posted by: maisky 23-Dec-2004, 07:43 AM |
In the case of a teacher dealing with kids just before christmas, "Dizzy" might be more appropriate. |

There is one song that will drive out any other song: Winter Wonderland. But then there you are with Winter Wonderland. Aaediwen cracks me up with the drum solo from Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida. That's actually pretty fancy -- I just get the bass line. Today I have "Sunny Day" from Sesame Street. "Can ya tell me how to get. . . " |
Posted by: Rindy 07-Jul-2006, 07:40 AM |
Now I have "Sesame Street" lol lol Slainte |

Earworms - who started this one? I ran across this term in a couple of books - "This is your brain on music" and "Musicophilia" - great books about music and the brain. Anyway - the one piece that has permeated my brain lately is "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff. |
