| Although I came to loathe his political stances later in life, Charlton Heston has always been one of my all-time favorite actors. Passed away at 84. |

| I loved Charlton Heston! he was a great actor, my favorite was when he played Moses. And I use to like the movie, The Omega man. |

| This was very sad news. I had to laugh I told a friend that he had died and he said "God died" I said it wasn't God it was Moses. Couldn't believe I said that. I thought he was one of the best actors there is. He will be missed. Slainte |

| An excellent actor but I have to admit his "Cold dead hands" speech at the NRA convention made me loose a lot of respect for him. Camac. |

Truely a great actor, and "Cold, dead hands!" took his stock UP 75 points for me.   |

| +1 dogshirt most forget his involvement in the civil rights movement... during the civil rights march held in Washington, D.C. in 1963, he accompanied Martin Luther King Jr. In later speeches, Heston said he helped the civil rights cause, "long before Hollywood found it fashionable." a great man is gone... |

| i simply have to add this. read this and tell me you loath his political stance or at least rethink it. read this and tell me you didnt appreciate his cold dead hands speech... (which by the way was in reference to a hand made flintlock rifle that was just awarded to him... it was just taken a little out of context) this is a speech he gave at Harvard University on Feb 16, 1999 |

| Whatever was his political views is irrelevant to me because he was a great actor that very few today can fit in his shoes. The movies in which he played in, were not all computer generated images like those of today.Of course there was special effects they used to be called but not through the entire movie. And they were good stories and dialogue in his films.That's why this man possessed such a great vocabulary and eloquent speech.He was perfect for these grand style movies.Not many actors had the ability and talent to stand out like he did . I could've been listening that man talk for days for the sound of his baritone voice was calm and soothing. A very intelligent and sane man. Sadly the disease which he suffered for some years took away that sanity. I was and will always be a great fan.LOA |

| dundee; I read your posting on Charlton Heston and I must admit that I agree with most of what he says. In todays world my step-father would more than likely be call a white supremasist because he believed that the white race had advance civilization more than any other. He also believed in treating everyone equal and did so. If that man didn't like you it was because he didn't like you not because of race, religion, or ethnicity. He treated everyone like he wanted to be treated. No special favours. This of course is Politically incorrect and he would be condemned for it. One thing he did hate was guns. He had been shot and he had shot and killed his fellow man . I too have been shot and I too have killed my fellow man and I too hate guns. This obsession Americans have with fire arms is to me and the majority of my fellow citizens totally unfathomable and incomprehensible. So when a person of Hestons stature made that statements irregardless of the context respect for him dropped a few notches. Camac. |

| First of all, lets keep this a thread in honor of Charlton Heston: not a political discussion regarding culture wars, guns and whatever. Second, maybe "loathe" was too harsh a term. I simply disagree with Mr. Heston's stances on some issues. I myself am a gun owner, but at the same time agree with Camac on we Americans fascination with firearms (I know, keep it off politics). Regardless, I still will always consider Charlton Heston my favorite actor - of all time. I have been meaning to rent "The Omega Man" from Netflix, to compare it to "I am Legend". Maybe I'll pull out my dvd of the Three and Four Musketeers, to see Heston as Cardinal Richeleiu again. (I know, I probably misspelled the Cardinal's name...) |

| Did y'all see Major Dundee last night on the Western Channel? One of my all time favorite movies. There are so many great movies of his. Charlton Heston is truely a great actor. |
