QUOTE | Shouldn't you base that on players and team play rather than wether the name is pronounced with an 's' or 'k'. |
Probably, and i was being a bit facetious, but when you've never had much of any exposure to any of the teams or players before, you've got to start somewhere. |

Molly's Army unite!
I've seen FM live 8 times now...their shows are such a blast. EVERYONE dances. 14 to 40 year olds. My mom even loves them, and i took her the last time they were here in Atlanta (she stayed in the back). |

QUOTE | he only use of the soft S pronunciation I know of occurs in Sports Organisations Such as Oban Celtic Shinty Team Glasgow Celtic Football |
Wow, Celtic FC is pronounced with a "s"? That really surprises and somewhat saddens me (i prefer the hard "k" sound as well). I'm trying to get more into international football and am looking to select a club to root for. I guess Rangers will be my new team.

Wow, nice. Hopefully she'll be able to get a college scholarship.
Another example of the "s" pronunciation would be the Boston Celtics. |

I've always pronounced with the hard "k" sound. Occasionally, i hear people say it the other way. Is one more correct than the other? |

Thanks guys...Madadh, where in Maryland are you? As my avatar and sn suggest, I am a UMD alum who was originally born in Towson. I have a lot of friends in the Old Line state, and make it back for 3 or 4 football games a year. |

Wow, i'm so excited to have just found this site. My name's Jonny, and though I live in the U.S. (Georgia), my heart lives in the Celtic world. I can trace my mother's family, Callaway, back 11 generations to Cornwall, and I can't wait to go back there again.
I also have Scottish blood in me and loved backpacking there a few years ago.
Hmm...what else? My favorite beer is probably Belhaven, i love the traditional Irish/punk band Flogging Molly, and i wear a Celtic cross around my neck at all times.
I look forward to participating with you good folks on this great site!
*Cornish for "Good day!" I don't speak Kernewek, but i like knowing a few phrases |
