I'm trying to learn Irish. It's such a beautiful language, but a bit more difficult to learn by myself. I'd love to compare tips and ideas with others who are learning as well!

| Hello! I'm from Tampa, FL. I became a fan of Celtic music starting with Celtic Woman back when they first started and branching out into Celtic Thunder and The High Kings. I found Celtic Radio when I was looking for more Celtic music to listen to. I'm trying to learn Irish. It's such a beautiful language, but a bit more difficult to learn by myself. | Hey, Joanna! Welcome to the community! The radio stations are fabulous, I listen to them everyday! I try to switch to a different one each day to get a taste of it all. The Salty Dogs and Celtic Moon are my favorites at the moment. Best of luck learning the language, I delight in listening to it but cannot speak it myself. Enjoy your time! |

Oh yeah, I forgot about that...Rosetta Stone does have Irish as one of their available languages (I was disappointed they didn't have Scots Gaelic  ) |

| Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll be sure to look for Talk Irish haynes9. Thanks for the tip. I'm currently using the podcasts at EasyIrish.com and the lessons at Bitesize Irish Gaelic. The only trouble is the difference in dialects. It can be a little confusing. I'm leaning more towards the Ulster dialect since I do more with the downloaded podcasts than the online lessons, which are more Munster, I believe. (Limited internet at the moment makes it hard right now to do as much as I'd like. Grrr.) Anyway, thanks for the help and welcome! Y'all are great. |

| Hi neighbor - a warm welcome from Venice. I just took haynes9's advice (he always has good advice) & checked out talkirish. It uses the Ulster dialect. You can learn a word a day & some other stuff without signing up for the course. Nice to be able to try out first. As for me , I think at my age a word a day will be plenty! |

Hi there! Thanks for letting me know. I'm looking over their website now. I've subscribed to their word a day email. I don't have access to the internet as much as I'd like right now, so it wouldn't be wise to pay for the online lessons, but I'm going to see if I can use their mp3 service on my mp3 player (which is not an iPod).  |

| Grace2302, Since you're in the Tampa Bay Area you have the opportunity to attend the excellent Highlands Games in Dunedin in April. http://www.dunedinhighlandgames.com/ Also there is the Zephyrhills Celtic Festival the end of March. http://www.hofcf.org/ If you don't mind the drive to go to a small festival the Peace River Celtic Festival in Punta Gorda is March 11th. http://www.celticheritageproductions.com/peace_river.htm All of those should have good live music.
