Our "Listen Now" radio player box has been upgraded with some new back end technology to support all browsers and systems.

Using HTML 5 and a multi-phase approach, the player will load up the appropriate sound plugin for your system automatically.

Apple and Mac users will especially see the benefits since our old radio player plugin did not work on those systems.

With Flash as a fall back, it should work pretty much work on any system:
  • Mobile Safari (iOS 3+)
  • Android (2.2+, w/Flash), Android (4.0+)
  • Safari (4+)
  • Chrome (7+)
  • Firefox (3+, w/ Flash)
  • Opera (10+, w/ Flash)
  • IE (6, 7, 8, w/ Flash)

Spreading Celtic Music to the masses!

We fired up an old XP labtop and tried out Firefox and it started to play. It should default to flash if it does not find any other player. Check your settings to see if you are blocking any type of scripting for the site. Which browser do you usually use?

IE 8 browser, it opens but just sits there and does not play when I press the play button that shows up. Nothing is blocked that I can find. Worked before you did this.
Thanks for checking into it.

Ok, we will run some additional testing on IE 8. Do you happen to have firefox installed at all or another browser that you can check and see if it works on the same system?

Worked on Firefox after waiting 5 minute.
Don't know if it means anything but it says connect with:
Then there are the icons for Windows Media, Real, and 2 others.
If I choose one of those it plays in the window for that application and I have to jump back and forth to see what is playing or to rate.

Well, that is positive that it worked in FireFox. It should work in IE 8 with windows XP. Check and make sure you have all of the updates for Windows XP and Windows 8. Then go to the adobe website and make sure you have the most current version of Flash.

IE 8 seems to have a slight issues with inline frames which we use to render the player.

Enable Inline Frames on Internet Explorer 8 if it is disabled using the steps given below:

1. Open Internet Explorer, select Tools | Internet Options

2. Click the Security tab

3. Choose the desired zone (Internet, Local intranet, Trusted sites, or Restricted Sites) and click Custom Level

4. Scroll down to Launching programs and files in an IFRAME

5. Select Enable to prevent inline frames altogether or Prompt if you wish to decide on a site-by-site basis

6. Click OK

7. Repeat for each of the desired security zones.

8. Click OK to exit the Internet Options menu.

Also enable the Compatibility View feature on Internet Explorer 8. For information on using the Compatibility View on IE8, refer to the link given below:

You can see the full Microsoft article on inline frames here:
