Many of you know that I am a missionary on the great Navajo Nation. Our dear friends, the Bobby and Michelle Harjo family, are also missionaries here. They live in Shiprock, New Mexico, about 2 1/2 hours from us.
Michelle underwent surgery last week for a gall bladder removal and to remove a cancerous mass from her colon. Long story short, she did not respond well to the surgery. She has been on a respirator since Sunday night and now her organs are shutting down. She has been given 24 - 48 hours to live.
Please pray for the Harjo family. We all want to see Micki up and out of her bed and we know the Lord can do that. It may be, though, time for her to go Home. Pray for God's wll and His grace in this difficult time. Bro. Bobby is heartbroken, of course, and so are the children. They still have four children at home, including a three year old girl.
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at this and for praying for this good family. Lord bless.

It takes an extra special person and family to answer the call to be a missionary. I am so sorry that your friends are going through such a trial. I know that they appreciate your friendship and support. I just wanted to take a moment and let you know that you and your friends have my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks so much, everyone.
I received a call shortly after midnight (1-12) from Bro. Bobby. His wife is now in Heaven with our Lord. A man once told me after the death of a good pastor friend, "Bad for us, good for him." That's really true in this case.
The Harjos will be going through some challenging times in the foreseeable future. Please keep them before the Lord, He is the God of Comfort and they will surely be needing that comfort that the Holy Spirit can give.
Again, thanks for praying for our friends. You guys are a blessing.

Thanks, Rindy, and everyone else. The service went well. Bro. Bobby actually preached at his wife's funeral. He was an exhibit of the power of God's grace as he shared his heart with everyone in attendance. I was proud of him and honored to call him my friend. The children sang a song that their mother loved to sing with them. It was a blessing, to be sure.
There will be challenging days ahead for the Harjo family. Please keep them before the Lord.

Thanks so much. They are doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances. I spoke with Bro. Harjo a couple of times this week. He is staying busy and working to take care of his kids.
He knows there will be tough days ahead, but he's maintaining his walk with the Lord through it all.
Haynes, I am so sorry to hear about the loss. Life is so short and my families prayers are with you and your friends family.
Here is a little poem I sometimes give to people that lose loved ones. My 83 year old mother unfortunately has given it to many of her friends who find some comfort in the words:
