Ah. Will try with IE, then. I'm usually using Safari exclusively. Thank you.

Oh... we're quoting a real song? My apologies, then. Thought it was more like the four-word-story, and didn't recognize the songs in the last three pages.

Will stay silent from now on.

It's not in Scotland, but if you're ever down in Hampshire, near a place called Shirrel Heath, look up a pub called the Bold Forrester, on Forrester Road. It's nothing spectacular, but the atmosphere was friendly to all when last I was there. Down the opposite end of the road, there's a house named "The Old Plough". It was the competitor that went under, as the proprietors of the Bold Forrester will happily tell you.

Nice selection on tap, and there is always at least one walker in a tweed-plaid hat sitting down for a pint with his dog by his feet.

Is it an anti-Macintosh system or something? Every time I try to connect, it says "Unable to connect. Thank you for visiting Highland Radio. Please come again. Disconnected." It works right up until connection, then fizzles. I've tried several times, too. Should I file a complaint on the tech-support forum?

Llewellyn is pretty good with enigmatic music. Doesn't do it often, being more enamoured of the chipper and seriously French-influenced NeoCeltic, but is very good. I don't think HR has any Llewellyn, but iTunes has a nice selection to sample. (No, that's not an iTunes plug, just my experience.) "Rhiannon" has to be a favorite of mine from Llewellyn.

There's also Mychael Danna, of "Diedre of the Sorrows".

Enaid and Einalem can sometimes sound like Enya.

Indeed, driving around and staying in bed&breakfasts is the way to go. Make sure you ask the proprietors about the various sites nearby, too. B&B owners are usually very friendly and glad to help those interested in Ireland.

Do no miss New Grange. Blarney Castle, the Giant's Causeway were OK, but the thing that stuck most with me was New Grange. It's much better handled than England's Stone Henge, and even older/more impressive.

During my years in England, I never encountered poison ivy (good thing, considering the first time I had it they tried to put me on steroids for it), but they have something almost as bad over there called "seven minute/year itch" or "stinging nettle". If you touch it, it puts these little stinging hairs in your fingers that act rather like fibre-glass... they itch worse than most things you can imagine, and the more you rub at them, the deeper they go. Pretty much the only antidote is rubbing the site of the sting with dock leaves, because soap and water don't always work.

Once, I was working in the garden, and absently reached for some mint on which to chew. I was wearing gloves because I was pulling up a thistle, so I didn't know until too late that what I had grasped was seven-minute itch, not mint.

Has anyone ever encountered poison ivy in England? If it's truly not there, one has to wonder about the shock the first non-Scandinavian explorers must have received upon discovering it.

Rainy damp with a cutting wind-- sort of like the moors in Britain.

Mmmm.... want to be back there again.
